Haha....
We should talk about new cars.
What a waste.
The newest car I ever bought was a 3yo Mazda 6 in 2015.
Had 40k on the clock and I paid like 13k, but a new one was 27!
It's been paid off for a year now and just hit 100k, so I have no regrets (and needed something reliable for my kid), but new car prices are ridiculous. I see so many broke ass people driving new cars it's insane.
Before this car, it was all about finding cheap old decent ones.

That's a great looking van!

I had a '78 too, it was a Caravan shorty. I still regret letting it go.

I bought an 08 dodge(went to the chevy dealer first and they pissed me off)1/2 ton 4x4 singe cab off the lot and the rear main was leaking a year and a half later at 80k miles. Traded it on an 09 crew cab(had kids) and in the 8 yrs(like 100k mi) rear main was leaking, diffs were leaking. Put wheelbearings in it. Fan clutch went out and took out the waterpump. Transmission shift solenoid went out. Swaybar bushings were gone. Big, BIG payment. Parts still fail, but they cost more and the vehicle does nothing but depretiate. Not to mention the full coverage insurance. Now i daily a 79. Cheap parts, easy to change, no payment, no expensive insurance and if you maintain them, they are worth more the older they get. If i spent the money on my square that i had in driving new vehicles, id have to start gold plating **** because everything would be replaced or rebuilt in the first year or so.

Sweeeeet van, maaaaan. Definitely looks like a good score.

New cars are ridiculously over priced. I cant wait to finish paying off my trucks. I bought it used in 2016 and have about 2 more years left. I priced out a new one with the 1000 ft lb engine and similarly equipped to mine and it was 65k. I owe a little more than that on my house!

Anyway, everyone looks like they enjoyed the day trip. I'm going to show my wife this thread and stir the van fire. Maybe play that song and give her a screwdriver. We shall see.

Right on, man. Right on. :D

My plan last night worked out perfectly. I played the song, showed her the van pics, and it was over. She even lit some incense.

Then I made sure to play the song one more time after we finished....just for good measure.
The only questionable part was one comment she made early about getting a van when I wasn't even done with my square project.
I just turned the song up louder!

Not sure what to think about that one. Maybe with a more 70's/80's front end.

Maybe more like this one. I'm thinking move the grill back to the window, move the body to the front of the chassis, section the chassis so the rear bumper is back in place and move the rear wheel wells to match the rear axle. Possibly move the engine to mid way. My engine (350) is weak so upgrade to a 3.9/5.9 cummins and 5 speed manual. Piece of cake. My 1988 donor is a Chevy, Barndoor 4x4....half ton.

This is little shaunee creek it drains down to big shaunee creek about 200 yards down from where we are. Nice camping area. Small creek for loafing and kids to play in. Big creek for fishing and boating. One of my favorite spots. Probly 5 miles from my house. We just did the day trip today but we might try to camp next weekend.

That's a great spot!

Nice score on the van. I had an opportunity to get one for free a few years back. All it needed was to be registered. It was setup for camping, and was a one owner rig. I declined because I didn't have the space for it. It was a Dodge Van, but it was solid and laid out well.
