After getting it home and running some errands. Only pic thus far...

Oops, I lied, this was sitting at a light after some miles on the way home...

Hadn't found a gas station yet.

At the station, added a bottle of motor purr fuel injection cleaner and topped off with high octane. Got the walkie-talkies ready, and we headed home.

All freeway going home, some gridlock, mostly free-flowing, and going up and over a mountain range.

No issues. It hauls @$$. Cruised 80-90 the whole way.

The fob didn't work, had to get a new one and get it programmed. Daytime running light bulb is out, got new ones along with new wiper blades.

Before deciding to bring it home or not, I did a lengthy look over top to bottom, front to back.

Test drive was short, but good enough, was able to get a decent feel for how it drives.

After that, crawled under and checked for leaks, rust, damage, and any other thing that might cause alarm. No leaks, no damage, nothing jumped out.

I did notice a clunk in left front, only over bumps, but the suspension seems solid. Will be investigating the cause of the clunk.

It rides smooth, brakes good, steers responsive for an suv.

What fob did you buy? I need to get one for my daughters ‘06 Z71 Hoe

I went to the local Ace/True Value hardware store that cuts keys. They had the new fob, and programmed it in the parking lot. It was GM037 in their system.

The new fob looks like the original too

A quick backup...

I called on Friday to see if it was still there, it was. I asked if they'd hold it. Yeah, with a deposit. No deposit, sorry, but we'll be there in the morning. Okay. Then got a text confirmation.

Headed down, stopped for breakfast and texted them telling them that we'd be there soon after they opened.

Got there, we saw the vehicle being driven away. I was pissed. They assured me the guy was just test driving and he was there first. I said bs, I had an appointment.

That told me they don't keep their word. Oh well. It came back, we test drove it, and by the time we got back that other guy was gone.

It was 81 dollars, and worth it. I was upset that the old one didn't work, not sure why it didn'twork, all is well now.

I left the GM dealership in 05 so cannot give direct testimony for an 07 Tahoe,but through 2005 we had plenty of clunks that were caused by the steering intermediate shaft,they can sound similiar to a ball joint,going over bumps. I'd inspect it if you don't find something obvious.Just if the grease in them dries up,they will clunk on bumps.

This one being a 2005, what you describe is probably what it is. Will know more when I can get it up and jack stands and front wheels off

Amazon has the fobs, inexpensive too.

GM 2000-2006 programming.

* Key in the ignition, (off)

*Hold the driver's door unlock button.

*Turn the ignition on/off once, do it again second time, on/off fast.

* Horn beeps

*Hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote. This takes a few seconds. Maybe 15 to 60 seconds. Horn beeps. The fob is programmed. If you have a second fob do it now. This also erases any other fobs that were programmed.

* Turn the key on to end the programming.

Side note, the battery needs to be up. A battery at 12 volts will start the vehicle. To program, 12.75V or more will work.

Try a new fob battery, 2032. You'll have to program them both at the same time.

New battery didn't work. Tested the fob with fresh at hardware store, bad fob.
