Nice job Shane. That's gonna be a good wagon.... @DoubleDingo
Thanks Perry, it was agreed upon by all to bring the Hoe home with us. On Sunday my wife got to drive it and while she prefers her car, she liked driving the Hoe. She doesn't want to call it The Hoe, it may get named Goldie, we'll see.

After replacing the drl bulbs and wipers I decided to check the coolant level because it was cool. Coolant level was where it needs to be. Then checked the brake fluid. Yikes! It was low. That explains why the pedal was soft. It stopped well, just a little mushy pedal. This morning, the brakes are nice and firm.

If they don't have the lights, they should have the reflectors, no? Reflector lenses are what is in the glove box, but they cannot be installed as there isn't a housing, and the tabs are broken. I'll have to see what I find for availability.......
It's supposed to be reflectors. None in stock on Summit. Can get them on ebay.

There are some stretches of road here that require daytime headlights, so having the drl's operational is a must. I've driven on a certain stretch of road north of here, it's 65 mph, two-lane, and you definitely want the lights on, because you get impatient people passing. It's only an hour drive no matter how you slice it, so 65 isn't bad because most are simply doing 70. There are always those that want to go must faster, and I am one sometimes, just on the correct roads to do so.

I won't be modifying the lighting. I like things stock, or at least stock looking and stock operating.
You should modify by finding out if your doors have the harness for the courtesy lamps. If they don’t then you have a 03+ with a Chevy 99-02 front end and then someone tried to bring the door panels with.

The harness if not present you can cheat and put a feed off the front ones or the under dash.

Do you have a glovebox lamp and under dash lamp? If you do, that means it’s most likely 2002 or older unless they brought them too. Your underhood lamp, could you follow the harness for it and show me where it goes?

You’re also missing a ground strap for the hood. (Radio suppression) it goes on the firewall by brake boosted

Yep, just reflectors in the rear doors. Should be pretty easy to find some replacements. 3rd brake light failing isn't uncommon at all. See if you can find an OE replacement, some of the aftermarket LED ones make the cruise stop working. I've never had an issue and have ran several different aftermarket ones but I've read alot of people have that problem.

Looks like a super clean rig! Glad you picked it up!

I think it's a 2005 through and through, but I could be wrong. The VIN comes up 2005 Tahoe.

I just ordered the reflector lenses and rear glass struts.

I'm not sure about the under dash or glovebox lamps, I'll have to check.

I'll have to look after work for the under hood lamp harness.

Thanks for pointing out the lack of a ground strap. I never would've known about that.

I ordered the Dorman replacement third brake light, hopefully that one is not problematic.

Thanks, it was too good to pass up, even with its imperfections.

I want to swap in an OEM radio (UB1), but I am wondering if it may be easier to just buy a new JVC since the bluetooth microphone and other stuff was already installed with the current JVC. I have no idea what they did or did not do to install the JVC. Did they replace everything? Or just install the head unit? I need to dig into that.

I’m going to have to give them a shot!

Last fob I got for my ‘06 Duramax was close to $100 at the stealership
fobs for that era are cheap on amazon, self program. I have these for 2002 and 2008 gmc

bought these 2 brands in the past:

on how to make the truck self program a fob with a key, they have directions on their websites.
. (08 has that information center bunch of tap buttons to the right of the ignition on the dash, ...its in that menu )

seemed to work fine so long as you already have 1 good matched working key. (that lets you add fobs/ and new keys, without a locksmith or dealer etc).
