Yep...rebuilt Q-jet arrived but it's 14 degrees outside with 30mph+ winds. It can wait.
Carb on the left is the factory original...that'll get shipped to National Carburetor for rebuild and returned to me at some point in the near future.

Dyed the carpet in my k10 project. Not overly impressed with the outcome but it beats replacing the carpet

Went and got the transmission for the Extracab today. I've been talking with our resident transmission guru. It will be the first transmission I have ever rebuilt. We'll see how it turns out. Just needed it for mock up. Also got the chain case on the NP203 powder coated, came out nice.

The most important advice I can provide to you regarding automatic transmission internal repair is clean, clean, clean! When you think it's good enough, clean it one more time, just because. Good luck

I installed a cheezy hitch reciever today. I don't intend to tow on the road with it, I just want the ability to move trailers around the yard when the ground is soft or snow covered. It's got a lot of contact patch compared to my tractor.

I'm not sure if I'm going to burn a big fat plug weld into that center hole or not. It would add substantial strength, but it will be very annoying if I ever want to remove it.

Well. So much for "just to move trailers around the yard".

I needed to get the box truck back to the shop. But I also needed a ride home. So 5k went on that bumper hitch for a 50 minute trip home.

It turns out, a plug weld would have done no good. I could have swore the factory bumper could have handled an unloaded trailer.

Whoops.
