What would you pay for this truck?

It's too bad that there's no production figures on it. It's actually one of the more common color combos that I remember seeing back when they were still all over the place.

This one was sold new in FL and then went to NC. NC/SC is where I see the most of these. Being in Ga, solid red and red/white were the most common for us growing up thanks to UGA

Just an example of a happy $4k Oregon truck to raise the spirits. I mean, it’s at a used car dealer so….gotta be a bit more than a “good deal” is worth.
Also as a comparison, the truck in question is overpriced.

The old style hub caps look perfect on that truck.

Ha, yeah looking back at those pics, I like my new cheap vintage looking Halibrand wheels but it’s hard to beat white steelies and poverty caps.
I sold the whole set hubcaps and all, but could easily see myself going back to that look.

My MGB project was originally a purple similar to Mopar's Plum Crazy - previous owners redid it in red and its in too nice of condition to justify a complete strip and respray but I'd have loved to go Plum Crazy on it. I've found sections of the orig color under the dash and inside the door cards.

In my area people are insane. Posting a truck like that one asking 5k and being disrespectfully argumentative when I try to have a discussion. “I know what I have”. Look nationwide. But it is getting harder to find units with little or no rust. I traded a rusted out 74 K5 I bought for $1500 for an 89 K5. The 89 was rust free but needed all the body panels repaired, prepped and painted. Sold it for 8k to someone in Denver. I’m in Colorado and it’s getting insane trying to find any square bodies here. You might have luck in Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, etc. I would wait and save and pay for one that doesnt need rust repair. When you find a clean one you will appreciate it more and it will be much much less daunting to tackle the things it needs.

Still on my search for an affordable C10. Seems alot of you had the same idea of value for the last truck I posted...unfortunately the seller did not agree.

Went to see this truck the other day. It is a 79 (favorite year) it seems to have a bit of rust on every panel. Roof seems decent, no holes, mostly what looks like red primer. Bed has a hole in the bottom but overall is decent. Drivers side obviously needs rockers, but floor looks really good actually. Passenger side will need rockers and floor (seperated with a hole but usable).

It does run but has a head gasket leak. We fired it up and I took it down the street. Seems to have a couple of cylinders down. He said it was pouring coolant out at the head. Transmission shifted. Has an extra th350 in the bed, was apparently changed recently (doesn't look new). Brakes are borderline no existent...which I discovered half way down the block lol. Interior is complete and cleaner than you would think from the outside.

Seems to me like with around $500 it should be running, driving and stopping fine. Not sure if I would be embarrassed to drive it the way it is, I've driven worse lol. I do intend to repair the rust as I go to used trucks for sale. I have experience welding but not for years and not body repair. I have 2 plans; 1 is to buy a used welder and take my time tackling the rust. 2 is I found a welder who agreed to come weld up panels once I've cut and prepped everything.

So what would you guys pay for this truck? Keep in mind that if I'm looking at this truck I'm obviously not rich and am mechanically inclined. No, I don't forsee suddenly having an extra $10k for a truck lol.

it sounds like a solid project but definitely needs a lot of work. With the rust on multiple panels, the blown head gasket, weak brakes, and body repairs ahead, I’d put it in the $1500 to $2500 range if the frame and cab mounts are solid. The fact that it runs, shifts, and has a complete interior is a plus, but the rust and engine issues bring the value down. If you can get it closer to the lower end of that range it could be a good budget build, especially since you’re mechanically inclined.

I personally would keep looking. 3K is a LOT of $$ for a truck that needs everything, These trucks Squarebodies are increasing in value but, there are some real good deals out there keep looking be patient and good luck. Phipp
