Not much going on- just driving it these days. The local Heavy Metal Custom Shop reached out to me and invited me to their after work “Hooptie Cruise “. I guess I was applicable to that title, lol.

We drove up to Lynden to Grants Burgers and all sat around with burgers and malts to talk for a while. Good mix of different cars, though the Roadrunner was WAY too nice for the likes of us.

Photo uploaded only allows a small amount and didn’t want to fill up the thread with non-square stuff, but here you go!

Got the Quadrajet finished up and swapped back on. Guess what? It ran like absolute garbage. Was super, super rich, like smoking out of the exhaust rich.

HMMM.... Pulled it back off and opened it up and guess what I did? Thats right, I put the needle hanger in one of those holes on the float arm. Moved that to the correct placement and adjusted the float height for good measure.

Fired right up and ran like it should. I set the camera up and went for a little test drive. Pardon the junk in the cab and extremely dirty windshield.

And it just idling. Next will be get some new belts on order as they are cracking (they were last year and I just ignored it), and pull the column and fix the broken rack so it looks less like I stole it. Give it an oil change and once over and should be ready for the truck gathering in Indiana at the end of the month.

Like Lego, but with MUCH less experience, I too am in the depths of a Q-Jet rebuild..
Just pulled my internals from the Berrymans soaker tank last night, cleaned them up and set them out.

Need to next clean out the actual housings then start reassembly with fresh rebuilt kit parts. :D

Just DON'T turn the adjusting screws down tight. A lot of carbs have been ruined by the brass adjusting screws being turned down and they score, and the carb will never adjust correctly after that.

Thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely be careful of that then. :D Cheers

I was in a parade on the 4th of July with my daughter.

I've also bought a storage box from the engine bay of a late 90's OBS and installed it under the hood on the passenger side. I cleaned it up and used paint pens to outline the letters on top.

Currently taking a break from installing a 20-gallon fuel cell. So far, I've dropped the stock tanks and began prepping to mount the cell in the bed.

Got a twelve pack of USA flag valve caps. Pretty cool litter case they came in. And a pair of 3 way 6.5 Pyle speakers.

Changed the oil and took the boy for a driving lesson in the country. Beautiful night for a cruise!
