Terrorized the town about shark attacks…….even though we’re 5 hours from the ocean.

Beautiful night for a cruise in. Spent a great couple hours with friends listening to great music and staring at our cars/trucks.

Well not pic worthy but I “fixed” the off n on headlight on the ‘77.
Always good when it’s simple but now I have to return a new headlight, lol.
The side with the apparent short would come back on if you thumped the headlight bulb….for a while. Assumed old bulb something loose. Esp since this truck is solid otherwise.
Took it apart and the PO (who unfortunately has zero mechanical skills) must’ve replaced that bulb. It was basically new and the other one looks 40 years old. He got one of the tabs jammed into the wrong side of the plug creating an intermittent short.
Total repair time, 4 minutes. Trip to Vato Zone and back ahead of time for. New headlight, 1 hour. Sheesh…
Similar to a dome light issue I had in the 86 which after hours of troubleshooting and confusion turned out to be someone jammed the wrong bulb in the cargo lamp.
Point being sometimes it’s as simple as thinking about the most basic error you or someone before you made rather than letting common sense guide you. Lol.

The last time I had the distributor cap off I discovered the bushings on the weights were worn out. I looked around for replacements but was unable to find anything. I finally decided to purchase the Moroso 72300 advance curve kit.
Honestly I didn't really want anything more than the bushings, but the bushings in the kit will not fit the stock weights so I had to install the full kit. The kit has 3 different color bushings. The black bushing were the ones that fit my distributor.
The black and silver springs seemed considerably stiffer than what was in there so I went with the copper although they seemed much lighter. I was considering one copper and one silver spring, but we will see how the truck feels. If I need to go back in I can change them later.
I was not expecting a huge change in the base timing, but it was showing 20 degrees when I checked the truck after the install. I adjusted distributor back down and set it at 8-9 degrees. It goes up to 31 degrees when revved up so it seems to be working properly.
I am not really looking for a performance gain. I am just happy to get rid of those worn out bushings and knock off another item off the list of things to do.

Emergency stash box ready. Might paint it to match the interior... not sure yet. But so far is holds antifreeze, power steering fluid, tranmission fluid and motor oil. You never know when you will anything.

Got the lights replaced in the dash with LED's, looks good at night! Washed years of dirt and bee chit off from being stored in a field. added clean gas, started and drove. Ready for Ramona Cruise Night but will probably try to buff out and polish. Made an offer on a place with a garage and workshop, fingers crossed!

Nice work! I’d like to hear about your build and setup sometime.
It’s not fast but is consistent. Normally 15.2-15.4 depending on the day. Short block has never been out of the truck, pan has a slight leak kind of a sweat but it’s never been off so it deserves to sweat a little. Heads were touched up back in the 80’s and now has a Crane cam, Edelbrock Performer intake, Hooker headers and original carb that has been rejetted. I rebuilt a th350 trans with the good clutch plates and machined the pistons to allow an extra plate. Then installed a B&M 2400 Hole shot converter and changed the 3.08 gears to 3.73 with a true track carrier. I installed the TCI rear 4 link and coil overs so this old girl with low power and lots of weight can still cut consistent .0_ _ reaction times. Not sure how many passes the old girl has on her but I am positive it would be well north of 500 over its 44 years.

Throttle shaft even fits still. Feels quite a bit better than it was.

I like it, but I would cut that angle steeper, looks like those top front corners will poke a hole in the seat back where it is now.

Baseplate reassembled, still need to upset the ends of the screws. Feels very nice with the new bushings.

Cleaned up the old epoxy on the well plugs and mixed up some Marine-Tex epoxy and applied it.

Not much going on- just driving it these days. The local Heavy Metal Custom Shop reached out to me and invited me to their after work “Hooptie Cruise “. I guess I was applicable to that title, lol.

We drove up to Lynden to Grants Burgers and all sat around with burgers and malts to talk for a while. Good mix of different cars, though the Roadrunner was WAY too nice for the likes of us.
