Honestly, that’s where I’m getting to.
I still have thoughts about a 15k paint job, but as much as I think I like the idea of that, I enjoy the mechanics of just working on my truck. I’m reconsidering my plans, and thinking about spending the cash to just fix the rust areas, as my truck has natural patina that I don’t mind and if something happens like a scratch or ding, so be it. It wouldn’t thrill me to have that happen, but with it not perfect, it is obviously much less of a deal.
I appreciate that guys like Frieburger and Bieri are more into “don’t get it right, just get it running”. The people that can afford a rotisserie restoration will say that thinking is an excuse to not have a show paint job because I can’t afford it- and that may be the case- but I don’t give a sh!t what they think. There’s room for all of the ways to do vehicles IMHO. I’m reconsidering just having a clear sprayed over what I have to preserve it and leave it as is. Carry on.
Oh, and what have I done lately? I picked up some tin to fab some baffles for the M/T valve covers and just need to tap the bosses for the 8-32 screws to hold them on. Should have them on this weekend.
