Like the 3 days a year it’s not hot enough to need AC in Houston? Lol
Idk how y’all do it.
Our 79 Burb never had AC...the compressor was MIA when we got it in 1989. Even though it was a Silverado trim truck, had crank door windows but power tailgate window. We'd put that about half down, crank the door glass all the way down, hope we didn't get into too much traffic and keep a cooler in the back so everyone had a hydrating beverage..... Dad made cup holders for the second row seat out of PVC pipe, steel tubing and wire mesh in the bottom, bolted em to the B pillars inside. Worked pretty well....
Basically we'd do most of this with the '99 Burb in the summer, since its AC is non functioning. You learn coping strategies when you are too broke to have the only vehicle in a shop, and can't fix it yourself.

Worked on it over the weekend, decided to do the vent line a bit different than attaching it to the bed

Cleaned up the firewall for the truck and the back side of the bumper and painted the bumper so it could be installed. Unfortunately, the bumper step that was on it is rusted pretty bad so I did not put it back on. I installed the fog lights only to get them off the shelf for now.

There is some stuff that I am not ready to let the kiddo do, but there are still plenty of things she does help with on the truck and she gets excited to go out in the garage to work with dad. She has to earn her keep though, so she pushed the chassis back in the garage.

Sweet, that looks like its coming along nicely! Good work. :D

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've turned my sights on engine work now.. so after getting all cramped up multiple times under the rusty ol hood, I had the thought, "why am I fighting this.. lets just take it off. And then I'll actually have light on the subject as well as elbow room."
So much more room for activities..

Question. What is that bracket supported by? Is it supported by the brake line? I know it's not supported by the leaf spring. If it is floating like looks, you need to rework it so it's bolted to a solid surface like the frame, otherwise that brake line will fatigue and break off within a few miles, leaving you without brakes. The added stress from the vent line will compound the issue causing it to happen even quicker.

The hose is bolted to the bracket that holds the brake hose, the ss line is held by a bolt through the frame using individual P clamps, they are only using the same bolts, not attached in any way. This was what I had done just to keep things out of the way but decided why not do something more permanent than connecting it to the bed. I am not sure

I got a Summit aluminum radiator to replace the one in my '78 truck, it was seeping at the pitcock.
The width was exact but it was about 3/4" short for my application. I fabbed up some small short cup mounts for the lower rubbers. It fits nice and tight now.
Installed the RMS 7" round LEDs to replace the cheapo Amizon units I've been using. Put two new LMC horns in while the bezels were out.
I'll do a final headlight adjustment when I leave for work in the morning.

Drove around in the backcountry and did some WOT pulls. Still had a dead spot then would take off. I adjusted the Air Door on the AVS2, much better now.

Got some coffee and hung out in the sun sitting on the tailgate after going to Hobby Lobby and Wally World on my intermittent M2 search.

Try giving it more accelerator pump by moving the rod position, than adjust the air door. It'll only pull it open if it makes enough vacuum and demands more fuel, it falls on its face then pulls because it needs more pump shot to build enough vacuum sooner.

My duels did the same moved the rod farther out on both to increase the pump travel for a larger initial pump shot hesitation immediately went away.

You’re speaking my language. It’s been a long process. I have it on the most aggressive pump setting, even went with the pump itself from a bigger 800 and put in the largest squirter that Eddy makes. The AFR is fine most places but there’s the dreaded Edelbrock flat spot, apparently the secondaries get delayed with fuel delivery if the air door slams open too fast.

Pulled the door panels and added 80 mil Kilmat to the inside of the doors with the goal of making the doors sound more solid and less “tinny” when closing. Also cleaned the insides of the doors and greased the regulators.

Well threw alternator belt. So put it on the trickle charger. Something is up with this belt setup. It's thrown a 8 dollar belt and a 35 dollar belts. Very frustrating to find a solution to this. Grrr!

Belt sheave alignment is off somewhere. Not all in the same plane off the crank somewhere. A straight edge or a laser level might help determine which pulley is off.
