Pulled the drivers side door and rebuilt the hinges with new pins and bushings. The lower hinges had a lot of slop and when I got it apart the bushings were trashed. One was MIA, lol.

I took a Sharpie and outlined where the hinges were on the door before taking door off. Alignment is close now but I’ll probably tweak it another day.

Managed to do the whole job without scratching any paint! :winner_first_h4h:

Swapped out the 2" drop springs for a stock height set from Moog. The drop vs the stock looks to be the same dimensionally thickness spacing just 1.5 less coil on the bottom.

Now my jack will fit even with a flat, hopefully they will settle just a hair.

Drove it to work today as the forecast projected sun till about 5:00PM. When I got out of work around 1:15 it started raining, hard. I put the windows up to just cracked so some air could come in. We'll after driving like that for about 5 minutes rain just kept jumping in so I took the windows all the way up.

I haven't turned the AC on since the beginning of last fall when the clutch in the compressor started making a hell of a sound every time it got turned on. Yep, been putting that off.

Well after about 5 minutes of no wind and a steamy cab, I said f#$% it and turned on the AC. To my surprise, no crazy sound when the compressor kicked on and cool air flowing in to the cab, while it was raining cats and dogs! Eventually the steam left the windshield and I was riding comfortably in 88 degree humid heat and the rain pouring down. I didn't dare adjust to max or take the fan up any higher than low and enjoyed what I had for the rainy ride home.
Plans are to replace the compressor myself and have the crew at my garage recharge it...of course I will be checking out how it is all acting soon enough to be sure this isn't some anomally(probably is).

My heater control unit appears to have been removed, stored at the Bikini Atoll nuclear test site in the Marshall Islands, then reinstalled on my pickup. An ohm meter test of the switch portion verified the horrible appearance (all the plastic is fractured, unlike anything I've seen, that hasn't been run through a dishwasher) was more than skin deep.

Never had much like for the constant on fan thing either.

Hopping around LMC Truck, I came across two replacements. One is a three position switch. The other a four. I opted for the latter so I can shut the fan off when not heating the cab.

After a lot of research, it appears there is a lot of room for improvement over Detroit's approach to feeding power to the fan. That could start with installing MY version of a relay system, which would add a lot of life to the switch, and solve conflicts and issues like:

(1) The fact the wires are only fourteen gauge, if there is any truth to the diagrams, which means the maximum amperage they should have across them would be 15 amps, meanwhile, Net searches claim 20 and 25 amps for the proper fuse size, AND my panel shows as a 20 amp fuse.

(2) Switches are known to die on these, but which would likely be far less a problem if the amperage was reduced to what is needed to fire a relay.

(3) The constant run fan, which is a good way to shorten fan life, or just be annoying, which can be solved by going to a totally different switch (e.g. a rotary switch with four positions, so I can leave one open, to act as off, and still have low, medium and high.

. . . .

The new motor is in and ready for winter.

I am a fanatic about securing my loads. Between the pickup and the work van, I must have about 20 nice, long ratcheting straps. The problem was, I have nothing to secure a strap to on my new old pickup, since the stake pockets don't lend themselves to that. Especially if it's something that needs major securing, like when I brought my 13 CFM, 3 horse compressor. The height made securing it fun, but my little Ranger was ready for it, with good places to secure the straps for the hour drive home.

To get to being able to well secure loads on my upgrade from the Ranger to a 78, I shopped around for strap hooks and such. Wasn't paying close enough attention, and ended up going way overkill. Oh well. Said to hell with it and went for it. I can, now, haul most anything and feel comfortable it'll be secure.

The aluminum plates the D-rings are mounted on are obvious from the inside of the bed. I did the same on the back sides, in the fenders and between the bed and the cab, to spread stress put on the metal holding the rings over as large an area as reasonably possible.

First attempt at tint not great but not too terrible no bubbles but my trimming needs work still have to do the back window and got plenty to redo the fronts later I think my original idea to pull the window out will make the trimming easy and perfect fit

"Lately"... well, starting in mid June, until its first trip today, I built my "SB Sleepercell" camper, specifically to fit my Square. I took two 1980's era High top caps, sliced, diced and added a few other enhancements to get where it is. The "cap" is a full tub camper now, 15" higher and 12" wider. I wont be able to get an interior in it or exterior accessories until next spring because I am BUSHED !

That's incredible work and great thinking outside the box! I also like the term "enhancements".

I dumped my late model Express for this truck. DONE with sensors and other BS. It has been skinned in Fiberglass mat and Resin. Most of the shape was there, I just added the missing areas.

I hear that my 2017 was sold back to the dealer in 2021 after 16 recalls for electronic issues and my 2010 ranger was down for 2 months because of a sensor being unavailable so I'm driving it thru winter and, in the spring, she's going away in favor of another carbed c10 I'll winterize and keep stock for a daily, tired of all the electronics in these newer vehicles failing, I'm over it.

The glass work looks great BTW.
