Pulled a cab off a c30
The second grille I picked up last week has been staring at me every time I go into the garage. I couldn't take it any longer and decided to try and fix the broken grills and repaint it.
I decided to go with a black grill and silver for the main areas. In hindsight I should have tried one of those chrome paints. Maybe it would have made it look nicer, but for now it will do.
Couldn't find any of the Testors paint up here, so I tried some of this other enamel I found at a local hobby store. Orange was too light, so I added a bit of red to get a bit deeper color for the GMC on the grill.
I repainted the GMC on the other grille as well. Looks good I think.
I am not sure which grille I like better, but the silver one is on there now and we will go with it.
Didn't realize until I was finished that I should have removed one of the grills at the centre section for access to the hood latch. I can reach the latch fine, but maybe I will need to remove it if it becomes an issue.
Hey, make sure you put my timing light back in my box where you got it from.I make the big BOOM! Or so I thought for a split second before higher brain function was restored. Went to check/adjust timing on the Blazer and within a second or so of pulling the trigger on the timing light there was a very loud BANG and electricity went out. I liked to have wet myself and my immediate thought was WTF did I do now??
Of course I did nothing. For some reason the transformer fuse on the pole behind the shop (circled in the pic below) blew just as I pulled the trigger. Great timing, no pun intended.

Actually have 2 of those old lights…..not sure why. One may have been my dad’s. Also have an old Sears tach/dwell/RPM tester and an old remote start switch.Hey, make sure you put my timing light back in my box where you got it from.
I have that exact same timing light with its original box. It was the ole man's it's the only one I recall him ever owning. I pulled it out when mine died and it still works perfectly.
LOL same.Actually have 2 of those old lights…..not sure why. One may have been my dad’s. Also have an old Sears tach/dwell/RPM tester and an old remote start switch.
Shes a looker as she sits!!Think I’m done for now. I went 800/1000/1500 then Meguiars Ultimate Compound, heavy cut, fine cut, then Machine Glaze. Good enough is good enough. I haven’t decided if I’m going to put the VGG Patina Preserver back on- for now, just a quick spray wax. So much good natural patina that was already there, it really shows now for good or bad.
