Is this 390 oil pan worth repainting? I wired brushed it and took all the paint off. Now its just a rusty and pitted oil pan.

I thought about trying that rust stripper at walmart on it to remove the rust. Summitt has new oil pan for $100 bucks.

Advance Auto sells this purple power or somethin or other rust converter, brushes on like water (smells like a woman's perm) then turns purple when it's ready to paint. I use it on axles, frame, anything undercarriage that gets a lot of rust.

Rustoluem has something like that in spray can which turns to flat black and will prevent it from rusting anymore.

Yeah that's it. I just put 3-4 ounces in the bottom of a beer can and use an old paint brush to put it on. Stinks like hell but works great! Don't get it on your skin though.

Ok, Might use gloves then. I'll get a cheap paint brush from big lots.

I like how you say rustoelum will prevent the rust and stop it. That's what they claim, but I doubt it working. At least permanently, it may slow it down alot. I know for a fact that their automotive primer does NOTHING to stop or PREVENT rust. if anything is caused it.

The inside doens't look like that does it? If the inside is OK, I'd use it after I treated it with that purple power C4 suggested and painted it.

But will the purple hold up on a hot engine though?

Yup it's just a rust converter, you still have to prime + paint over it. Anything rust will turn purple, bare metal will just look a little darker but clean. I wouldnt put anything on the inside though. If the inside is rusted I would pitch it, or hang onto it for painting the block.
