Anyone used the old ash tray for something (else) that's interesting?

I had done this back in 2020 on my 76, removed the ash tray, made an aluminum plate and installed a dual usb setup. Now I’d go for one with usb C too.

Installed with the cigarette lighter only, so it can be removed with no evidence it was ever there.

I am planning to make a cell phone mount for mine. I need to find or design the right phone mount though. Figured this would be good enough instead of installing some kind of screen in the truck since there is 12v right there to charge it.

I had no radio in my old 76 K20 rock rig & had an aftermarket A/C blower mounted behind the space. I’d turn that sucker on & get a cool blast straight to the jewels! It worked great in Summer & when trail riding/rock crawling.

Had to put the sniper 2 controller somewhere! It’s nice to flip it up and have it back to a stock look. WOW factor when I pull it down to show someone who wasn’t expecting an LCD screen full of engine telemetry in a 40 year old truck.

would like to find an OBDII display to put in there or a display to custom fit to run off an old phone.

Some really good ideas out there. I put the switch for the Dakota Digital gauges where the cigarette lighter was.
Now that's a good idea! Mine's just zip tied to a couple of the holes on the bottom edge of the dash

Since this thread has been revived and the original 2013 pic died, I wanted to repost it for continuity. I should mention that nothing has been changed and I use it all the time.
