Nice! Would the SS be a 350 or an L69 305?

Sadly, the original top option then is the LG4. There is that awful, 267 V8 (de-bored 305) that can be in B & Gs of that era too.

That’s what SS was to them??? Jeez, I knew about the 267, but you’d think they could find something better than the LG4.

It was a 305, but guessing 350 now. It is another one of those blocks that don't exist according to regular suffix code decoding database's. Supposed to have been rebuilt 8 year or so ago and just been sitting uniil recently.

While the various SS models are associated with high performance, many were not necessarily such. Many first gen Novas were 6 cylinders. The Impala SS could be bought with any engine, including the base 6 cylinder from '62 to '67 (maybe even '68). There were about 400 Impala SS 6 cylinders built each year for the '62 - '67 model years.

At least on el camino ss required largest engine offered. Unfortunately after 78 350 was dropped completely. But non ss car could have all the same drivetrain if ordered so.

Even if it hangs low and restrictive, I need a muffler. Also rigged a battery tray from 1st Gen f body as I had two and this one was missing.

And muffler did not work. There is a giant leak around passenger side exhaust manifold negating any muffler

A bit of file work and c6 brake line is installed. Original was collapsed and did not allow any fluid through.

Rear can't fit c6 rear wheels without frame work. C6 fronts can fit with 2" spacer on the rear and the front. 2.250 is a better spacer for the front as it just barely hits a sway bar on full lock.

Unsticking brakes and then a c6 wheel just snuck on there for a test fit.

Oh no, don't do that! The rallye wheels are just too cool!

I love C6s and those rims are definitely cool, but man they look so out of place on that car...

Corvette wheels are a tradition though.

I thought that the transmission was probably empy, but drive it around some anyway. Well, tonight confirmed almost no fluid in the transmission. Filled it up and hope it is still ok. Otherwise another transmission to tear apart.
Also cleaned up and painted the original air cleaner. Currently running air cleaner stolen from step side wonder. I think a truck air cleaner would work a lot better, but I made a mistake of giving one away just couple of weeks ago.
