After fixing tv cable twice, figures the dipstick tube seal must he hacked too. And it was. It was split, I am guessing to aid install while tube was still installed? Replaced that seal and suddenly fluid is not pouring out.
Also installed my patented tv cable rig up of my own for testing. The throttle body attachment is for mock-up and will change to something that will hold.
And have 4l60e ready to inspect and maybe install, or likely include with the car as a friend of mine wants it.

So sometimes it does not leak, sometimes leaks when shut off and sometimes leaks while driving. Left a nice trail leaving work the other day. Need to secure the dipstick tube and somehow figure out the correct running fluid level. As well as maybe extend the vent tube

Finally got the trans sealed more or less. Had to reseat the tv seal and put in new dipstick tube seal. Also reran and fixed one of the cooler lines. All was done much easier with exhaust removed. Also found issue with driver side glass, window guide is broken. Ordered the guide and pinion yoke as well.

Frustrating when it's intermittent and no rhyme or reason to it.

What are the chances the dipstick AND tube were swapped with the different models of transmission? Is there any evidence of it being replaced?

My thought was maybe it goes to the other trans..?

What didjya find?
All the really crappy hacks were explained.

On the positive note, window now closes normally. Also installed one new o2 sensor as scanner was showing random numbers for it.

Pulling transmission out tonight. And hopefully will have the other going in tomorrow. Also will try getting the pinion yoke replaced at the same time as driveshaft will be out.

Supposed low miles spare trans that did not look like a low miles from outside was not low miles unit inside as well. Trying to decide if it is worth the time putting it in as is.

Ick. I wouldn't bet the farm on that trans working properly.

I am starting to think that it is better to just leave the one installed in place for now. Even with the rigged up cables. There was a person that wanted to buy the 700r4, which made me look in to this 4l60e. The sale would recover the cost of the rebuild assuming I don't find same thing in the pan of the 700r4. Can't sell a trans as working if the pan is full of clutch
