I was about to get real pist. Cuz I didn't know he bought the White Burb, and then to trade that for a Nova? That would have been criminal !!!

:lol: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have happened. A GMT800 for an old Nova is fine. But that white burb for an old Nova is no bueno!!! :D

More than once I have briefly thought about selling most of my crap and buying a certain Nova. A guy I know has a pristine (yes, really) '70 Nova SS. It was an original big block and 4 speed car, black on black. It's still black on black, but it's been tubbed, caged and currently has a detuned 540 (for street use) and beefy th400. Last time it was on the dyno, it was in the mid 800 hp range, all motor. With the current combo, he has over 120K invested IIRC... he said he would sell it to me for 40K.

Oh yeah! The guy I'm getting the Nova from also has an '83 or so 2wd crew cab dually for sale. 355/th400 and it's been lowered at least 4 inches. The body is good too, both rockers and cab corners have been replaced. He wants 2K for it. If anyone is interested, I'll get some pics.

Yep, lowered. I didn't look under the front, but the rear was lowered with hangers and shackles. I prefer a 4x4 crew cab too, but there's a lot of folks that go for that stuff.

All I gotta say a bout a lowered truck, is it better be fast. That's the only reason I'd ever consider lowering a truck. Not to look cool, or lower my step in height. But, when tuning suspension for racing to hook real good for launch and being more aerodynamic, lower is better and there is a justifiable purpose for it. Past that, a truck is a truck. You want low, get a car. JMO though.

Don't forget to be looking for a manual steering box. Can't have a BBC with OE PS Pump and PS gear box in a Nova. It don't fit. Unless there's been some mod aftermarket bracketry made since the late 80's, it just don't happen.

Interesting concept. It might. But, as a rule of Thumb in the Street/Strip days, Big Block Nova and OE PS was a No Go. I can't imagine 78 would be much different than a 70-72, but that's possible too. I'm referring to 70-72.

You'll like the manual steering much better anyway. I had 2 70 Nova's. Both came from My great Aunt and 2nd Cousin. The Cousin had with a Dealer Power Steering Delete as part of the purchase contract cuz he didn't want it. So I drove both. Really, the NON PS was much more responsive and you could feel the road. I'm not a big fan of PS unless is a nice cruising family car, or a loaded up truck with all the bells the whistles. I can sure do wo PS. Neither of my 62, 64 or 68 Pick Ups had PS. The 68 did have power assist, I took it off.

And you might think with a BBC, you might need PS, not with Pizza cutter front wheels you don't.
