Agree with you, one exception- your spreading the load of the truck over 24 rivets for just the rear (light end) of the truck, as much as I wouldn’t think it move on just the cab, I would bet an engineer at GM would say it’s only meant to support the body structure where as the frame crossmember on the front is grade 8 bolts and hard mounted to the frame - no rivets. It’ll likely be fine, but would I personally recommend or do it, nafc

I see your point. But at the same time, the cab spreads some amount of load to the other frame mounts, including the radiator support (assuming the front clip is installed).

I wouldn't lift anything by the cab mounts. There's a big difference between those mounts supporting just the weight of the cab and the weight of the entire truck/drivetrain. Plus, they're engineered to support downward weight, they press into the sides of the frame rails. They're not meant to withstand upward forces trying to peel them away from the frame rails.

It might work and be ok for some people, ain't no way in hell I'd do it.

I meant the cab mounting area, and also looked at the rear spring hangers, and said self that's probable not gonna work, and you all have very much summed up all my thoughts, so thanks! :)

I'm not messing with the exhaust until I swap it, so jack stands and the ole creeper it will be!

In spite of the "group expert" absolute insistence on arguing me to death that the only body mounts are 73-80 and 81-87 regardless of anything else, no difference for 4x4 or 3/4 ton...

They are in fact different with my K20 rear cab mounts being about twice as tall as my C10 mounts.

Which makes total sense, since LMC carries two separate PNs for them...

So anyways, wasted hours and hours and 120 bucks because some ****** who's probably never had a cab off a K20 but has to answer every single post was wrong from his couch...

So I moved on to fitting the headers, distributor, steering column, XJ shaft, and ignition switch.

In my experience with the 3/4 tons, the rear cab mounts are different to allow a "softer" ride inside the cab due to the heavier duty suspension.

Rebuilding a steering box for my friends 75 K5 for the crossover conversion. This is off of the 85 C10 I parted some years ago (he has the box off of his 87 K5 on the 75 so the fittings are correct for this one).

I need to get a copper washer for the sector adjustment lock nut, and go through the preload and over center adjustments and it will be ready to go on the blazer.

I finished painting the VC's yesterday, put new bolt grommets and gaskets in them this morning and bolted them on to seal the motor up. Almost ready to drop in

I have never seen any kind of "washer" on the sector bolt/nut??
Perry, you are correct that a copper washer is not a standard thing there, it’s one of my additions. Being that the Saginaw box I redid for the Ram immediately began weeping from the threads, I applied ptfe paste to the threads and added a copper washer as a conformance layer and that did the trick (I’m sure the ptfe was the real fix for the weeping).

The copper washer is kind of a makes me feel good thing I guess.

From the illustration, they're twice as tall (eyecrometer) and bellowed, which would give some credence to maybe they're supposed to compress a bit. We'll see when the new ones show up. I don't think LMC has even shipped them yet.

Paid the bill today - it's officially in the queue to be rebuilt then shipped back to me. :)

Finally ran the wiring for power door locks and mirrors into the cab, fishing the wires was a little tricky but not too bad. I still need to land all the wires but I can now work on installing the fenders and body panels alignment which should increase my motivation to make more progress on the rest of it. But, the fish are biting so I might just go fishing instead.

I have a bunch of wiring to finish….stereo, speakers, courtesy and fog lights, bed lights, power mirrors and locks, and whatever I find that doesn’t work properly. Probably many weeks to resolve with the fluke and test light probe.
