Went to see Trey Kennedy last night. Had never heard of him, he's pretty funny, and not cussing the entire show.

Anyhow, I told my wife we'll take The Hoe Sandy(I got the look) because I hadn't had the chance to drive it at night, and wanted see the headlights.

Lol...yeah, they need adjustment badly!...lol... DS is burning holes in the pavement, PS is close, but a little high and too far left.

Will be adjusting them tonight

I think the hole should be named Trixie. We'll see if anyone gets the reference.
My guess is stripper or prostitute

Or whatever her name is for the band "hole", assuming meant to type hole instead of hoe

Decided to change the oil. Ran errands, engine warm, added motor purr tune-up. Idled the engine for 20 minutes. Crawled under without lifting the front, and saw writing.

No clue what all the garbage is, but the date is clear. (EDIT: I see the torque spec, date, rotation, and maybe an oil analysis number. It's a valvoline filter.)
Dealer changed oil in May and didn't change the filter.

No biggie, engine internals cleaned, new filter, fresh oil.

Because it was tight squeezing under the bar, I turned the wheel. Yep, dry rot. New tires ordered. Lesson learned if it happens again, look more closely at EVERYTHING, which I thought I had, so there's that.

Sucks, because there is a lot of tread left. If these were simply around town tires they'd stay. But, I am already lucky there wasn't a blowout coming home.

So, oil and filter are fresh, and the front end needs some work

All in all, not horrible, but in need of tlc, which is expected at 20 years of service

You know it's old when you can't find any info on it

The date code will only be on one side. Look at the other sidewall.

That’s not the date code. It’s 4 numbers and no letters like 3117 would be the 31st week of 2017.
If those are Michelins they may not be that old. I’ve seen many Michelins begin cracking like that only a few years

Not Michelins, Bridgestone, but they are being replaced no matter what. It's our lives on the line and we agreed it's getting new shoes. I thought I'd seen date codes like that on old tires. Figured that was it. Thanks for the heads-up on that not being the date code.

Old tires were a 3-digit date code. Tires this century have a 4-digit date code so there's no guessing the year. The pre-'00 tires, you have to guess the decade they were made in... which is usually possible based on when that specific tire model was made. But not always. I've had some tires that were either late 70's or late 80's, but didn't know for sure.

By old, I meant pre-2020, maybe 2010-ish. Been awhile. I typically don't look at date codes, I go by wear or dry rot.

General AT/X will be here in a few days.

I didn't take a pic as I poured the oil into containers, but the motor purr did its job, the oil was very black.

Driving it today, the oil pressure seems to go a little higher at 58-60 with cruise rpms, and drops back to 38-40 at idle.

Had to get some tubing for the extractor pump, just waiting for temps to drop to go do a drain-n-fill.

The method I used for drain-n-fill, extract, fill, run engine for about 10 minutes, extract, fill, rinse and repeat. Except for round 4 and beyond, about halfway through idle time I put it into each gear for at least a minute in each way to flush passages. Once I had one fill left in the jug, added the 2.25 liters I calculated that came out each extraction, and went to get more fluid for future drain-n-fills and for travel.

Drove around, checked it, added, drove around, checked, added, then got it right. Still need to change the filter, won't have time until two weekends from now, but it's mostly fresh fluid and it's shifting and engaging better already.
