I wanted Pioneer, but those units all required modifications to fit in the form of cutting the dash/bracket/brace. Kenwood says it's a direct fit, but, the instructions say to cut. I really don't want to cut anything. I'll see if it actually fits without modifying anything. I tried finding just one without alexa voice command, but everything has some sort of voice command or multiple in the same unit. Not pleased about that, but I guess that's the world we live in now.

Just ordered three gallons on Valvoline dexron vi, just need to get over to harbor freight and buy the extractor pump. Going to be a busy weekend with family visiting and other obligations. Hoping to find time to work on the hoe.

You’re not doing a new filter on an old rig?
Or just pulling some fluid out before dropping the pan?

All single din are the same dimensions in my experience. And steering wheel controls will work with a Crutchfield kit.
They did on the one (same gmt800 hoe) I did.

There are many $100ish brand name single din head units with BT and multiple preamp outs (not that you are using those) without voice command.
Just bought an Alpine unit a couple months ago.
Honestly if I was going through the trouble of upgrading and for the long term, I’d at a minimum get a double din. About the same $ as single. Or preferably a touchscreen.
Just searched quick. $200 for a Kenwood touch screen double din size with steering wheel controls (w adapter of course).

It's getting a new filter. Going swap some fresh fluid in a few times before doing so. I was going to buy the filter when I picked up the fluid, but, I found out there is a shallow pan and deep pan. Not knowing what I have, the filter is going to until at least round three of drain and fill.

The jvc didn't appear to require cutting, hoping the Kenwood is the same

I agree. The double din Kenwood touchscreens are pretty darn good and user friendly. We've got a couple of them in work trucks.

Thought about double din, ended up staying with single din. The parameters I entered on Crutchfield, every unit has voice control. I won't utilize it, but it's there. If this Kenwood craps out on me I do more searches with less or more parameters to try and eliminate voice control

I didn’t cut anything on the Hoe but it had a single din in it when I replaced it. Don’t recall if anything was cut. But don’t remember seeing anything cut. I’m sure @TotalyHucked would know fer shure.

This Tahoe a 4L or a 6L? You gonna put a plug in the pan to make it easier in the future?

Third brake light changed, fixed the problem, and cruise control still works.

Lots going on this weekend, no oil change or atf drain and fill. Did buy the Holt 2.3 gallon extraction pump.

After getting home I did check the carfax report. Atf changed twice in its early years, none since 2013.

Oil changed in May and only has 300 miles on it. It's getting put off a month or two.
