Great info, thanks bud.
It's a shame, cuz it does look good cleared. Just doesn't last. My buddy had his '86 polished (Rick, SQRBDY, the red and white single cab if you ever watch the UBT road trips) and ceramic'd like I mentioned and it looks fantastic, even 2 years and many miles later

yeah, the data report out speed is about every 0.8 seconds, so it is pretty slow. the actual ECM is making changes much faster. so it does help, but it isn't a perfect diagnostic tool.

as long as you don't enter diagnostic mode on the cable/scanner (it should come with directions of some sort on that topic) then watching the data via a cable while the engine is running has no impact on what the ECM is doing. or at least that I can ever tell on mine.
depending on the cable in use, if there is a resistor shorting between two pins (forget which ones, and a lot of them internally do this on the plug. i believe its the one that does field service mode, memory not the best on this)

I was referring to the tach readout would be laggy behind a hand held tach but good to know its only .8 sec
my 1990 olds 88 has a tach readout, and it doesnt seem like a long time but its slow enough that its noticeable

Thought about spraying it but too much work for an area mostly hidden, plus if I can avoid the toxic paint I will every time. After this one dries I will brush on the second coat.

Finally got tired of how bad the tops of my door panels looked any time it rained/they got water on them, so I treated them with leather/vinyl conditioner. They were SUPER dry, idk when the last time I treated them was. I need to get better about that before they dry out and break

I've got a really crazy fix for this that I'll tell you about, but don't want to announce it publicly yet.

Swapped my front tires from side to side cuz I’m getting pretty low on the insides and the LH wears worse. Gotta buy a little more time

had the mufflers changed and a few leaks taken care of today. Man I miss my cheap guy. I found out why he was so cheap tho.....he's gone down hill health wise due to life choices.

Anyway, world of difference with sound and throttle response (I think), we'll test it out more tomorrow.

I picked up a set of Rally wheels a couple of weeks ago and have been spending some time getting them sanded down and painted. Definitely not perfect but I think they will look decent when finished. I found some 3 inch trim rings, but would prefer the narrower 2 inch. Hopefully I can find a decent set in the future. After a few days more curing I will swap my tires over and see how they look on the truck. If I don't like them I will probably just paint them black.

Got the tach mounted with double sided tape and two wraps of electric tape. That's the best way to get around the box at the turn signal handle. Not perfect but not too bad.
