Well since the time change it is now dark both on the way to work and on the way home. So I finally decided to do the LED headlight conversion.

It was pricey but it absolutely made a huge difference. I went with the RMS Lighting kit because I really liked the original look and the fact it had glass lenses.

I really gotta get the Temu quality headlight relay kit UN-installed and doo something bout the headlights on the Blue truck. Both squares could use some love in the otherwise working flawlessly yet underpowered lighting areas.

'79) 350/ granny 4-speed, '86) 350/A833 3-speed with overdrive
Any problem aiming them?
I've got the RMS gen2 kit in my truck with the aftermarket green adjuster inserts/screws and they all aimed perfectly. Nice pattern to the lights, I've been very happy with them
This is also the Gen 2 kit, super easy to install with clear instructions and pictures. I had to swap positions with the low beam wire and the ground in the plug but no big deal and aiming was no difference than any other bulb and Zach is right new adjusters is almost required if you are still running your originals. Very happy with them so far.

Getting after the rust encapsulation. Great day to be huddled in the garage out of the rain.

I pried the old plugs out of the rockers where the “rust prevention “ was applied when the truck was new-ish. Sprayed some internal frame encapsulator by Eastwood. It’s a pretty trick little gadget.

Went all in today on cooling system service:

Flushed old cooling juice out

Removed and replaced heater hoses with some new Gates hoses

Removed and replaced upper and lower radiator hoses with new AC Delco units, both were stamped 'Made In USA' (bought some stainless steel lower rad hose springs off ebay and installed one in lower hose)

Removed and replaced AC Delco 195 Made in USA thermostat with NOS AC Delco Made in USA 195 unit

Fel-Pro T-stat housing gasket

Filled up with Zerex 'Original Green' cooling juice

Splendid exercise...

I've seen this thread on several other forums and it's usually a good one and is good for posting up those little things that may not really belong in a build thread but just to make mention of :D

Lately I've driven her a little bit (she loves the heat!). I'm getting ready to do some little things to her pretty soon, though. The comp/temp mirror mod should be accomplished in the next week or so. I've also got a couple of small custom touches in mind but those will remain a secret for now :secret: Should turn out looking nice, though :)
Just had my seats done and very happy with the quality of work. I spent some money on it, but this is my end of life truck and I always wanted real leather and Brazilian tri-colored cowhide. Not sure how the cowhide is going to hold up but they use them for area rugs and they seem to last so I’m hopeful.

I finally got around to replacing this cobbled up junk from the PO. It looks much better. Maybe when filling the tank, the gas won't spit back out at me. We will see.
I hate how expensive those molded hoses are. I need to get those next...

Took all the seats out. Tomorrow I’ll load them up and take them to Roanoke to be reupholstered. They’re not in bad shape, but are faded and the drivers seat has a few tears in it. Haven’t completely decided if I want a custom look or keep it as factory as possible.

Got a chuckle over the .22 shells found hiding under the rear bench seat from our pumpkin shooting a couple weeks ago. :D

Apparently the Brodix heads are recommended for Champions RN12YC. But having header clearance (as a lot of us do), searching out for shorter plug becomes a task of cross referencing all the various acronyms and alphanumeric jargon out there. Apparently the NGK BKR5E is a suitable replacement. I spent the morning comparing various plugs that are applicable at O’Reillys.

After that, I came home and swapped back to the rally wheels.

Thinking about selling off the Halibrands and trying something else, but we’ll see. I’m in no rush.

Not square but mini square... ive had a full sweep gauge cluster for quite awhile and finally got the balls to open it up and add miles to match the truck so i can swap. Then today i had the fun of swappin from hockey stick to full sweep. Added all LED bulbs to it too, heater control bulbs too.

I'm thinking pretty hard about the Cunningham Machine steering shaft to throw on the 89 Burb. I've heard those are pretty good at tightening up the steering when you ditch the rag join. Gotta make sure it'll work first, though.

I was also thinking about putting a new fuel pump in before the current one goes kaput.

I'm pretty much doing everything I can to avoid biting the bullet and doing an LS/4L80E swap. But that's what I really want to do.
