Spent a lot of time looking at what I have on the new cylinder heads, and I’ve decided I’m going to stick with the plan and go with the Extreme Energy 274 flat tappet cam. I know the ramps are a bit sharp and they make a little more noise but the characteristics are exactly what I want.

Turns out, Brodix uses Comp Cams hardware- not only that, but I cross referenced the valve spring numbers and they are the valve springs that are actually sold as a matching spring for the XE274h. I called and confirmed this with Brodix, as well as the tested seat pressure listed on the cards sent attached to the heads, and they are indeed actual tested numbers at the factory, not “what they’re supposed to be.” I then waited for an hour on hold with Comp Cams and told them the numbers on the card, and they told me it was well within range, so I have their blessing as well. The only thing left to do is have them gone over by a machine shop for tolerances, then I’m good to go.

So I spent a couple hours on the phone, but I’m in a good spot now. Only thing left to do is save more money for the remaining parts and then dig in when the rain starts to fall.

I did go for an early morning drive; probably do another before the day is over. Gotta take advantage while I can, fall arrives early in the far upper left corner of the USA.

Apparently, what I was sent originally wasn't a DL7 (Standard). This lock uses a flat rod about 3" long while the ones today look like it's a flat piece with a clip that hooks to the rod.

Anyone recognize that one on the right?

I did. It kept me unnaturally curious so I found an interactive thing on the Standard site. Came up with this

Somehow I ended up with the rear lock set, trunk lock. No door cylinders, 2 keys. A misbox or the rest "fell off the truck". Oh well, one less unanswered question in the universe. Has to count for something.

I was today-years-old when I learned that either one of the 2 bolts that hold the fuel pump on will also hold the pump rod in place. This is only the 3rd time I've had to change the fuel pump in 41 years. SMH!

I started to unfuck the wiring.

The dash lights haven't worked since I bought it. The po changed the heater core. Shorted something and now they pop fuses. I work aviation electronics for a living so this mess drove me nuts. I figured if I'm going to troubleshoot wiring I want to start clean.
I also added a plate light. It didn't have one.

You probably already found it but here's a link to the reference library wiring diagram! http://www.mediafire.com/download/u...MC_Light_Truc_Wiring_Manual_CK_10_30_Only.pdf

Started wiring in the digital relay and realized I'm out of heat shrink. Ran the 8-gauge feed out a grommet in the firewall right off the starter battery terminal. Port 1 is trans brake power and signal line to 2 step box which feeds the kill switch in the dash, still need to wire the line lock to port 2. Need to sort out a switch panel at some point.

installed the 40 amp switches the one hanging is dash lights then reverse lights and kill switch for trans brake.

Wes invited south to the cars and coffee meet, which turned out to be a mostly Alfa Romeo group. But all are welcome. Took the back roads south via the Chuckanut Hwy along the coast.

Went through the sleepy town of Edison, and ended up at the meet. We had breakfast and then I expected everyone to mingle about the Alfas, but everyone congregated around the truck. They were quite enamored with it.

I’m not a euro car guy (even though I have a distant watercooled VW past) but some of them were gorgeous and I can only imagine quite a hoot to drive.

The truck did flawless and it was incredibly enjoyable couple hours of driving.

That ashtray is a good spot for another gauge if you need one.

Or a cup holder arrangement.
I fill my ashtrays with change instead of cigabutts these days. I waited too long as it was.

But I admit one of those efi screens would be cool too.

It's stock. I have no need for gauges. Plus the ashtray has a 3d printed cup colder in it. I didn't even install that water temp gauge.

But I did drive her to work

Just put an order in at AMD for a set of fenders and wheel opening trim. Wasn't having any luck finding a set that weren't junk and were reasonably priced decided screw it I'll buy a new set.

You won't be disappointed, well as long as you didn't buy the xbrand ones. Those still aren't terrible but the others alot better.
