Will they clear with rubber mounted? Looks damn close to me...

Yes, that's a 17x4.5 rim with 1.75" Back space at full lock a 28" tall tire will clear with about an 1" to spare. The side wall is what contacted not the tread.

Also finally got the correct belt for my radius tooth pullies. No more ear shattering shriek from the serpentine style belt that this setup came with originally.

Finished up the hard lines, both brake and fuel. I like the way these are bent versus the pre bent ones I bought. Waiting on the clamps so I can button up the fuel system until I have the engine in

Nothing big, but gotta share how much I like cars from the PNW.
So I discovered a dilapidated plastic fuel filter on the 77 yesterday. From a few years ago when the PO spent a lot of money to get the tanks working, he got a clear (now yellow and broken inside) plastic Fram fuel filter as part of the deal.
Made me get after fixing the cheesy filter and line setups on both squares. Ordered some metal Wix filters, a fuel line hose clamp kit and a fancy billet looking fuel pump/filter mount/holder last night on Amazon. Everything was delivered this morning. 3 different trucks 3 deliveries, 3 small packages….not sure how that’s sustainable practice but I digress…
Gave the 86 a real filter mounted up all proper like and new hose under the hood to replace the crusty glasstic filter (glass and plastic and also coming apart inside…) and some who knows how old fuel line.
Great, looks less _____ rigged and now not a rolling fire hazard.
Crawled under the 77 to replace that filter and found 4 of the bed bolts were loose. Just a little but I know some rattles were coming from them.
Here’s the great part. Thought what’s the chance these will spin on me, be frozen solid or actually tighten? I wedged a screwdriver under the nuts to keep the carriage heads engaged. ALL 4 bed bolts snugged right back up like they were just installed last week!
Pretty sure the bed has never been off except maybe when the saddle tank was installed circa 1980 ish.
To be fair though, this truck spent most its life with an overhead camper in the back just like the 86 did as well.
To put it in perspective, I haven’t encountered a single nut, bolt, or component on either squarebody or the 74 Jeep that needed a hammer, a torch, a cutting wheel or even any cussing. Not even brake drums. Somewhat a factor of being relatively well cared for, but my 2016 truck has required alternative removal means on several components rusted/frozen in place.

Decided yesterday was the day to pull all the interior trim panels and give em the ole Rustoleum rebuild.
Also spent time preserving the original door panel inserts. Carefully…lol. They’re crispier than the Colonels chicken.
Old 3 tone door cards.
Reassembly in progress again later today.

Went with a lighter beige than OE. Old Dodge I had a couple years ago had white/parchment trim inside. I liked the lighter color but obviously not white as the interior is 6 shades of brown.

I’ve been spinning my wheels and not making much progress lately, kinda energy sucking and disappointing. I’m likely going to take a break from this for awhile to reboot my energy drive. I have too many other things which need attention.

Life can be a lot like being drawn and quartered. Being pulled in four different directions and waiting to see what gives first.

Iirc the last 2 corners to go in are top n bottom on one side. Easier to get it far enough over side to side than top to bottom.

Got the free99 interior refresh back together. Took just over 2 cans of dye for all the trim and panels. And about 10ft of double sided tape to assist the crispy parts in staying where they should be….lol.
The passenger kick panel with the vent/fan/actuator thingamagig was a bitch to get out. Kinda.

Gives me a little motivation to get carpet and new seat fabric because now they’re the turd in the punchbowl!
And I got a few new door strap covers ordered. Can’t believe they still make them in the filigree pattern! $10 ea got a couple spares. 2 of the lm in the truck have one broken tab.
And I need some new elastic for the door pockets, cut the old stuff out to dye them. I just mocked them up for the pics.

Not so much to it as for it. All made with stuff laying around from my hoarding tendencies. Now I can access my old butt up there with ease. Not using two of the tire stands now, so why not. It repurposes an old sitting bench from a passed friend. I know he would approve.
