I like your truck a lot. The 15’s and that blue is sweet.

got an OBD1 reader (Bluetooth) from 1320electronics and downloaded the aldldroid app. Not sure why I waited so long. I highly recommend the reader and app.

Drove to the Furd place to get parts for the wife's Ranger.

Saw this - paint scheme look familiar?

Also saw the sticker on a 2wd Ranger XLT club cab - kind of the modern equivalent to the wife's 01, but it is a Supercab.

35K - yeesh !

My pricing mindset is stuck in the square body era, too ...

Nerd Alert!

been closely monitoring EGT, Vacuum and fuel (WBO2) on my datalogs as well as reading the plugs over the last week. last night I tweaked some things here and there, modifying AFR curves, timing curves/values, plug gaps and some other odd values like decel fuel cutoff ramps. As best I can tell over the last 40 gallons of fuel I've averaged a little over 15mpg.

I came up with some new values based on what I've been able to gather. modified my timing and fuel a bit.

Napa is having $30 off $100 or more sale, so i'm heading there to pick up new bearings, races and seals for the rear axle. It's about a 40 mile round trip, so it should be a decent shake down.

The benefits of a really light foot and fuel injection, I guess. Can’t be sure economy calcs are spot on until I log several hundred miles with this configuration. Hopefully I’m not too far off on my calculations.

My rural commute is basically 55mph with almost no stops. So it’s kind of optimal for fuel consumption. Also run 60psi in the tires to reduce rolling resistance some.

Geeking out on this stuff on my downtime helps keep my brain sidetracked from other crap.

This all started with wanting to install my new electronic oil pressure gauge to get the pressurized oil tube out of the cab that drove the old mechanical one.

Well I can’t leave well enough alone. Everything worked perfect as it was... It turned into a full blown rewire of my engine bay and moving all the ecu wiring into the cab under the dash.

I drove it.

Driver mirror loose
Gauge wire loose
Gas gauge needs dip switch modification
Blinker lights don't
Running lights short
Horn don't beep.

BUT... I drove it today instead of my daily driver.

PS. Wife wants AC to work.

Pulled the grill out of my 76 and 'Cut the birdcage off' of the cold air tube in the core support. Noticed the grill was super dirty in the area in front of it. Always had noticed that the grill would get dirty in that area and never thought that it was because of the air tube

Last night : Instrument cluster lights seemed dimmer than normal.

Checked, and knocked loose and out, the bulb holder for the speedometer and oil gauge. It's on the upper LH side of the speedometer from the drivers side .

Fell down and disappeared - Fut.

Tried one of the ones @Snoots gave me - thanks again !

No luck, though - mine are bigger in diameter .

Hey, it's a Suburban!:D

Took off lower steering column cover , found the old, got it back in, and formulated an idea:

Today:

Added about a 1/2 quart of oil after my 130 mile or so cruise yesterday.

Snugged the thermostat housing bolts and the tower clamp bolt on the radiator hose.

Thought I saw a bit of antifreeze, but the intake is dirty and oily, so who knows .

Snugged the carb mounting bolts - probably needed, can't hurt.

My idea from last night :

Lubed the speedo cable by disconnecting the upper from the cruise module under the hood, then disconnecting the cable from the speedo under the dash w/o pulling the cluster.

Sprayed WD40 down the cable housing, then pulling the cable out and oiling it down.

Cable back in housing , fight it back up to plug into speedo, hook up end under hood, and test drive.

Speedo still moves - success!
