Over $120 ish for a 5/8 x 115” v belt for the mower. Called about a dozen mower shops including a couple out of state that carry the brand of mower I have. Napa was the only one I could source in a day. Otherwise a week to order online.

What brand mower?

A few weeks ago, I went to replace the main drive belt, the primary and secondary deck drive belts, and also some deck tensioner bushings on my little 25 year old JD. All the local places had belts that were only close enough to maybe work. So then I got curious and tried the local JD dealer. To my surprise, they had everything in stock, even the oddball bushings that I needed. And the parts were even affordable too. I was impressed.

It’s a Country Clipper. Not sold out West. I bought it used from a guy in Nebraska and had it shipped out. (Welcome to western WA where I could buy a comparable mower AND pay like $1500 shipping cheaper than ANYTHING local. Besides even with as much rain as we get here, the market for big mowers is MUCH smaller than the parts of the country that most have grass for miles..lol)
I also tried John Deere along with every commerical mower shop within an hour of home. Half the places didn’t gaf and just said we don’t sell parts for that never heard of it. The others actually looked by dimensions and didn’t have.

It was also Covid when I decided that my old mower that needed work was worth selling for double what I bought it for a few years earlier if I could get an almost new one without paying double.)

Went over to my buddy’s house today to help him with his ‘72 GMC. Noticed the AFR was at idle was rich today. I dialed back the idle enrichment to marginal improvements. Sometimes it was going into the 10s and even saw a 9. But it wasn’t acting any different and I definitely didn’t smell anything different or see any black smoke.

I took out the idle screw and cleaned to make sure nothing was keeping them from closing off when tightening (not that it made complete sense), and then made sure the metering rods weren’t hanging up and staying open. Seemed ok.

Failing that, I got to thinking about the O2 sensor being off, in the absence of the engine giving me any other symptoms. Then I read in the Innovate manual that you’re supposed to recalibrate the O2 sensor every three months (likely due to the crappy Bosch unit that are famous). So I jacked it up, unthreaded it to open air and did the recalibration process. Now it’s back to where it was before. Probably a harbinger that it’ll need to be replaced in the not too distant future.

Bought a new transmission cooler with 6an fittings. Went to the local hose shop and bought a pair of bulk head fittings, 9' of hose and 6an fittings that are reusable to make a clean install. I have always hated trying to fish the hose under the core support and back up. It always looks amateurish. I am going to do the engine oil cooler with 10an

Got the alternator belt replaced on the 84. It was a biotch. I got the exact one that fell off but it was too short. Wtf? Had to get one 1.5" longer. Only one that had it was auto zone. Lol I use them least of all but they worked with finding a longer one. Saved the card board lable this time so I'll know which one next time and won't have to return them to find the right one. 10 bucks too. We'll see how long it lasts.

Also put red wire loom on positive battery wire to keep from rubbing on the frame.

Flip flops and small blocks. Oil change day in the garage, and greased the front end.

Cripes I’ve been feeding the ‘77 cheapo 5-30 or something I had a couple few gallons of laying around. Now I feel bad. I should throw a bottle of zinc in it….

I've been thinking about a notebook or something in the vehicle for the same reason.
