use single stage it's cheap and easy, works perfect shines just as good as clear, only real benefit IMO to bc/cc is when you do metalics. What I mean by this is... when you lay down several layers you can wet sand and buff the paint, this gets rid of runs, dirt, dry spots, any problems with it, sanding removed them, and buffing brings back the shine. Metalics you actually get into the flake and it can cause tiger stripes and blots or weird patches and colors.

solid color, do single stage or if you can paint good enough to not wet sand and buff, use metalics in single stage.

If you want metalics and want to buff go with bc/cc IMO.

seen guys on tv use the summit brand stuff but honestly see if you have an auto body supply store, we're a small hick town and we have one, I buy all my stuff there and it spanks summits prices, plus no wait.

if you want to wet sand and it make it very smooth and nice, and first timer you can go bc/cc then. That way you can make sure it looks right before you clear it.

The base coat is thin and lays down quick, don't lay it down heavy, get it right, however many coats you need, as long as it's even and looks nice, pull it outside if you can to check it for spots, then clear the guts out of it, 3 or 4 good coats and you can sand and buff it to perfection.

Dont be scared, its not that hard to spray.

My paint job turned out good with the exception of body work in some spots. I just started on the cab roof to get a feel for how the gun was spraying and how the flash of the paint was reacting to the given atmosphere. There is alot of technique in painting anything, as long as you can keep the gun a consistant 14 or more inches from what you are painting it will turn out good. You have to move your arm and wrist like a robot to keep everything even.

I basically just fogged the paint on at first and let it dry for a second, after that I layed it on a little heavier until I had complete coverage. The final thing is holding the gun further back and shooting the metal flakes on for more consistent and natural looking metal flakes. After you get everything painted you just wait an hour and clear it!

I got plenty of pics. I'll have to post em up later.

base coat and clear coat is just as easy and single stage, the clear is what you want right, base you can play with.

Single stage it's one shot gotta be right from the start.

I know for sure every one was done in single stage because I painted everyone of them. Now the black 4x4 the complete bed was done, but the doors, and fenders were only done up to the gold pinstripe.

thank ya, sold the silver camaro for $900, was 2.8 mpfi and 5 speed, shoulda kept and done a v8 in it backed by the 5 spd. Dad traded the black 4x4 for his current white 84 c10. My brother in law still has the white monte carlo, I sold it to him.

BC/CC is more durable than SS also. It doesn't require as much polishing and buffing as SS. I have also heard that BC/CC physically shoots nicer out of the gun. SS is stickier and thicker and not as nice to use. The guy that did my SS laughed at me when I mentioned single stage. Said he wouldn't do it, even if I begged him to!
