Orfice filter stuck, broken

Hmm, I can't get the office filter out of the evaporator.

I've tried different needle nose and a small screw driver.
Taking any suggestions, or I have to sadly replace.

They make a removal tool but it is basically a self taping long screw. Might try that and warm the tube up slightly. Be vary careful around the o ring seal area. Doesn't take much to ruin the evaporator.

That’s what be I did along with drilling it after all that bs I still replaced the evaporator. Good luck.

The removal tool I have actually locks onto the tabs on the orifice tube and pulls it out.

...I doesn't always work very well though.

But, what does work great is to heat up a long and narrow flat blade screwdriver with a torch. Make it glow. Then stab it all the way into and through the orifice tube and let it cool down. Then pull the whole shebang out. Don't use a screwdriver you really like though, lol.

If you haven’t destroyed, try leaving it in. You can also try blowing compressed air through the outlet of the evaporator along with the other suggestions

Thanks for all the suggestions. It was not happening, but I spent a bunch of time trying to save it, LOL.
Let's see, 90psi and heat gun with wd-40. I had already busted the tip (about 1/2") off with needle nose before trying. Pretty gunked up. The compressor was locked up and trash.
Seemed like the tube may have been a little bent in the oring seal area. Did what I could with my handy bent little screw driver.
I did a long screw and with all my might, no sir. Oh, figured I'd try drilling it out. I have good bits, but aluminum is soft.
Off to pick up new one this morning.
Only things not replaced will be resister, relay, and short piece of tube from evaporator to condenser.

Back in the day NAPA used to make a repair kit. You cut about 4” out of the old line and installed the repair kit. It was made out of steel and came with everything you needed. I have installed several with NO PROBLEMS. Might try 4 Seasons or Temp, I would try the TECH HOTLINE and hope you get an OLD TECH. GOOD LUCK

Seems like drastic measures for just a commonly "stuck" orifice tube.
