Check your spark plugs. The thicker gasket gives you a better transition to the adaptor than the thin one try wetting the old gasket then installing it it will expand a little after it's wet

Lol I sat on it and it broke. I will pick up another one next time I go to town.

there are 4 vacuum ports in this pic. The break booster is too big to go on any of them, including the T. There's a small on on the canister behind the secondary's. What do I do with that?

I have created a mess. Ran fine the 8 blocks home. Now it won't idle. Truck reaks of gas. No brakes whatso ever. Can't even get it out of my driveway into the garage.

If you don't have brakes, then you have a major vacuum leak somewhere, which would make it not want to run at all. may need to try a different base gasket, and make sure it doesn't block the primary or secondary butterflys.

That gold canister on the rear of the carb should have a vacuum line going from it to the base port on the carb. Not sure what happened to it, may have come off when I wrapped it.

Check every port on intake and carb and make sure they are either plugged off or have a hose on them, and follow the hose to the end point and make sure they are connected and not split. That is step after checking that base gasket to make sure you have a good seal to intake. Make sure you don't have anything preventing the carb to bolt down to the intake itself.

It doesn't want to run at all. I have to mash the throttle to get it to start. Mash it again and it will typically fast idle for a minute. Then it idles down and spits and sputters and eventually dies. I have to get some more plugs and a new base gasket and will try it again. Still don't know what to do with the booster. Won't fit on any of the ports except the front of the carb.

The booster is on the bottom port on the front of the carb.

The pcv is on the top port on the front of the carb.

I seem to have fixed it, but I'd rather not talk about what the problem was.

I'm a little embarrassed. I had to modify my throttle cable bracket for the qjet. When I put it back on the intake, I didn't use the same bolt holes. I forgot to put the bolt back in the back corner of the intake.
