I don't have a volt meter at the house, but my test light shows power at the chock wire. I will get it in the shop at work and see how many volts

It's crazy. Once I get it to idle, it idles fine. I just let it idle for 10 minutes, killed it and started it again and it won't idle and dies.

When this happensTake off the air cleaner and check the choke to see if it's closed

Seems as this has to do with the idle circuit. This is where the a/f screws come into play. You'll need a vac gauge to set them

If the choke flap is open, then the electric choke should be working. Like Ceas said, you probably need to adjust the mixture screws for best idle. They may need opened up. I cut slots in those screws so you could use a flat blade screwdriver. May need to turn them out a full turn and start there.

A couple more things. Take offs are difficult. When clutching between gears, idles extremely high. Idles down when break is applied. Don't know if that is relevant or not. After driving a few blocks, dies when I come to a stop.

Starting to sound like a vacuum leak. Make sure the 4 carb mounting bolts are very snug

does sound a lot like a vacuum leak. Make sure all of the ports on the carb are used or plugged.

Vac advance is on front drivers side. Passenger side is plugged. Break booster and the line coming off valve cover are both on the front. The back port is plugged.

How about those mounting bolts? The booster needs to be plugged into the rear port and the pcv in the front.

I'm getting ready to pull it into our shop and work and see what I can find. I will swap the booster hose.

by the way, I wanted to point out that I stand behind my work, so if anything is determined to be carb related, I'll take care of it, so don't worry about that.
