Did a little research, and also looked at my two 1965 bumpers, and determined silver is the color for the rear bumper when it's not painted white or chromed. So I searched around for Argent Silver, and found a few places that sell it, like Eastwood, but then I searched dupli color to see if they had it. They don't but I found this product.

If it can hold up to the abuse a wheel can withstand, it should do just fine on a rear bumper.

After four videos, it appears it's the axle making the popping sound. Will be taking more video of various angles of the rear, wheels, u-bolts, etc.

Yesterday did one video at lunch, and two after work. It is the axle. The first pop was loud but nothing visually jumped or anything on video. It was felt in the cab.

Since it did it early on in the video and the camera was mounted to the cross sill, between the left rear tire and the frame, I could reach under to stop it easily when I stopped to get some "juice", and the mail. Each video it popped once, and the second time, although not too loud on the video, there was a visible jolt in the left rear drum. Very minor in appearance yet very loud in the cab and it did cause a minor change in direction during the right turn. Each pop happened while taking off tonight, but the second one was at the beginning of a right turn, barely 1 foot of roll.

Also, this axle is really loud while moving. How there wasn't shavings in the oil the times I've changed it, is beyond me. It has been this loud since I bought it in 2015, how it hasn't failed on our long trips, also baffles me.

Going to replace the axle bearings.

I hope it didn't already have axle saver bearings in it. That would explain the shavings not making it to the pumpkin too.

I don't know. It's been noisy for who knows how long. Definitely for 5 year...lol... I am torn between seeing if this one salvageable, or swapping in the Dana 60.

That truck looks good. My 64 GMC never looked that good but I sure miss it.

That sign I made sure got a lot of laughs. Got a lot of comments and compliments on the truck this year.

@Rusty Nail That disc brake conversion was the best upgrade made to the truck.

@78C10BigTen I figured poking fun at the fact that the truck wouldn't win anything was a funny thing to do. But I did win a Philips LCD TV from the raffle!

@HotRodPC Thanks, if I could stop enjoying truck for a while, even more upgrades and modifications will make it even better.

@DoubleDingo. your truck is my daughters(Dysco's teacher of the year) favorite year of rig. She's Kooper's mom, and while she likes the S10 and her other son's 79 K10, the older ones are what she likes. Me too!!

The other day I was going to work, and across the intersection was a sweet looking 64-66 baby blue w/white cab and white between the side trim short bed fleetside. I was hoping the light would cooperate and I could give him a thumbs-up while cruising side by side, but I got to turn right before he got the green to turn left.

Last weekend I swapped in this old heavy fan to get rid of the flex fan. The flex fan still looks structurally sound, to me, but after reading the horror stories, I felt that my gambling with it since the 90s was over.

The 7 blade 19 inch fan blade I ordered was too big for the shroud. Looking online for a 7 blade, 18 inch fan blade, proved that people are way too greedy. Most are priced $200-$400, and some are reasonably priced, but lacked the diameter in the description. Yes, I could have contacted the seller. I chose to buy a new unit from Classic Industries for $70.

Installed it yesterday....

@Rusty Nail I edited this to reflect my error in blade count on the new fan blade.

That's weird. I thought the seven blade fan was desirable..to replace an OE 5 blade...never seen a six blade fan before?
Vortex got an 11 blade fan - That's what the kids want now? And you bought a six..

Six..i think that's weird. How's it workin? AND what kind of fan clutch did you put on it?
What kind of noise does it make?

Here's my "upgrade fan" to replace the OE 5 blade.

Whoops, 7 blades, didn't bother counting them...lol...

It seems quieter, and definitely freed up a few ponies. Definitely sounds a little quieter on the open road too. I got the clutch from Carquest. Part #215049

The fan blade was for heavy duty cooling.

I can notice a difference in how the truck runs, minimal difference, but I can hear and feel it. Seems smoother on acceleration and doesn't top out around 3,000 rpms like it did before. Vacuum going down the road is better too, so that means better mileage.
