Yeah, I was asking about Illinois. The only reason I ask is because whenever I've worked in that area, a lot of things that are easy to find in most other places, it's harder to find.

I buy my green antifreeze from farm supply stores. Durex branded. Seems to work good and is cheap.

The reason it was hard to find conventional green is because nobody uses it anymore. The "all makes, all models" stuff is the hot ticket for simplicity.

I have just recently decided I will make the switch from GREEN to YELLOW...but I haven't actually done it yet.
I'm nervous.
Only because I don't trust it. Nevermind. I ain't switchin for nothin.
Look at the crap junk garbage they put that **** in!

Local Walmart Carries the 100% green, and tractor supply, as well as Atwoods both carry it.

Like I always say, we are mostly rednecks, so we dont trust no yellow or red or any other color. Lol

It varies from brand to brand, but most of the "all makes" coolant is a green color.

There's no inspection in Ohio either. Some parts stores tend to stock different things. Even the rusty junk driving around often came new with specialized coolant. GM started with DexCool around '95, Ford had some yellow stuff by '00 or so and it all snowballed from there.
DexCool is crap. Use the inexpensive green coolant and replace it every two years. The electrical current running through our trucks breaks down the coolants protective additives over time. I have seen alot of cooling system failures due to DexCool 5 year coolant.

Well I guess I don't know why the parts stores around her mostly stock the green stuff then.
The green stuff works just as well. Just change it out every two years. You can run it in the newer cars. The older brass and copper radiators don't get along well with the Dexcool. The newer cars run aluminum and plastic in their cooling systems. I just put an aluminum heater core in my 87 V-20 and it seems to work fine with the green coolant.

Don't waste your money, keep running the green stuff. To help out your water pump you can even add a water pump lube if you want to.

That's where it can be confusing. Most brands of the universal type coolant are a green color. When it's in the truck, you'll never know it because it looks green just like the regular old "green" coolant.

You could run most types of coolant in these old trucks if you choose too. However, the traditional green coolant was formulated for rigs like ours, most importantly the brass radiator, and brass heater core. My second choice would be a global or universal coolant which is generally a gold color. If it were me even if I had a long life coolant, I'd still change it / flush it on a regular basis, because those long life additives aren't formulated for our older rigs. The one thing I would never ever pour in my radiator is dexcool. The redish stuff made for the newer GM vehicles. dexcool is known for plugging up radiators and heater cores in any system that isn't perfect. Even in newer GM vehicles that call for Dexcool, at the shop we like to flush them to global, gold fluid when they are serviced. So for me, it's green!
