I am a retired streetcar motorman, (no, not a conductor, a motorman). I bought a 1973 GMC 3/4 ton Camper Special about 10 or 11 years ago for parts, but I never dismantled it, so I decided to make it a good truck, (it is not a salvage vehicle, I drove it home). I put a bed on it and put an engine and a transmission in it - it had an Olds 455 with very severe blow-by, and a Turbo 400 with brown fluid that smelled like varnish, so I put my 292 Stovebolt and 3 speed Tremac trans in it, and replaced the cab, as the original was very rusty. Sadly, the paper work and the vin tag from the original cab was lost in a house fire. Now, all I have to do is get it re-vined, I and I will be home free.

Welcome @JBswth !! Glad to hear that you saved the truck and will be putting it back on the road.

Cool it had a 455 Olds!!!! If you took the engine to frame mounts out of that, send them my way, I have been looking for some! I stuffed a 455 Olds in my 76 GMC Crew dually, love those Olds engines!

I gave it and the mounts to my brother. He wants to soup it up and put it in a hot rod 58 Olds!

Ah, I see! However...."IF" those mounts are specific to the truck chassis (like what I need) they are worth a little money, and I could certainly use them.

For a 58 Olds project (freaking sweet cars by the way, love that style!) you can use about any mount you want.

These mounts I talk about came in the late 70's, and early 80's GM trucks that had the Olds 350 Diesel engines in them, and were only every used in those trucks. So, if your 350 Diesel took a dump, you could throw in an Olds engine of your choice, many opted for the 350/455 Rocket.

So, that is what is special about the mounts.
