My truck never had a front sway bar. Pulled into the shop earlier this week to try installing new sway bar from Classic industries. Not the right bar. 10" too wide? must have been for a 4WD. Not sure. Wrong brackets. Put it back in the box and returned it. Listing was for a 2wd. While at that, I tried fixing my tranny leak. Now, since I fixed the shifter rod seals, it was leaking worse. Got under there and found it leaking badly out speedo cable port. Replaced the entire cable/gear assembly. Found the top inner seal was shot. Replaced and looks like the leak is now gone. The white seal shown in center photo was shot. Replaced old with new shown $12 from Summit.
While underneath, changed oil from 10/40 to 5/30 for winter (Penn grade semi synthetic with ZINC).
Also, removed carburetor for adjustment (the Rochester VAriJet 2 on the 250-6) has a non reachable idle/mid range mixture adjustment screw. I made a special tool for the screw, and adjusted the screw in (I was too rich), replaced the carb with a choke adjustment also, and got everything back together. The adjusting screw is inside that tube under the nearest vacuum hose. Only 2" to valve cover. The screw is about ½"down that tube. It was originally totally hidden and you have to cut the carb to get at it.

I think the truck is running great with no leaks from tranny. Parked the truck in (my wife's) driveway to check for leaks. Wish me luck.. No, I think I got it this time.
FWIW, I’ve had issues with Classic Industries and their parts labeling. Super nice folks, just think they don’t have it all together with what they’re selling. I had some of their tubular control arms that they insisted were for my truck but the ball joints were all wrong, not even close.

Nothing it's cool and rainy season here. 50 and rain all day this week. Maybe I can patch the leak in the radiator this weekend if it don't rain. But, I ain't holding my breath. This is the time I hate not having a garage or carport to work under.
No garage for me. We went with the black shelter logic portable carport. I build a floor with about 24 pallets and some 3/4 ply. Screwed her down with some lag bolts. We tried the tan cheaper one first. After the 3rd time it blew away it just twisted to a pretzel. So far so good with a heater got her up to 65 degrees when it was 15 outside. Highly recommend for the price.

Just ordered new vent window latches with the chrome buttons from AMD. Planning that project soon. I am going to pick up new spark plug wires and a spark plug socket today. I got the AC Delco plugs a while back and it is time to replace/renew. While I'm in there, I am replacing the bottom foot bolt for the battery tray, and, while the battery is out I will replace the dome light switch-drivers side. Probably this coming week. It's gonna rain again today and the kids got swimmeet and basketball this weekend.

A small allen wrench works well for tapping the roll pin out on the latches if your not moving the window from the door. Get it out enough to get a small pair of needle nose vice grips on it then tap on that. That's how I did mine.

Swapped in my new Tick Performance splash shield, bronze shift bushing and Revolver shifter. Muchhhh better than the TREMEC shifter

So yesterday I decided time to throw a battery in it and see if I have power in the right places. Attached the battery, nothing should have seen xmas tree on the OBDII port for a moment. Nada, turn the key on zip. Pull the head light switch nothing. It's late in the afternoon, have a beer think about this for a minute. Running the truck diagrams thru my head, do I need to run power to the starter, no! #h*T Didn't run a lead to the battery for the truck side!! Fixed it this morning. Can access the pcm from my tablet, lights come on and it bumped over time for another Beer!! Tomorrow I can clean this mess up a little.

Well, I snugged up the top radiator brackets with new rubber thingys. I like these because they have the little cones that help hold it in place under the brackets. Then I put another one to help fill I the gap. It is pretty solid. Put some putty over the little hole and I'm waiting an hour for it to cure then fire up and test it. If it still leaks I'm getting a new aluminum one. Lol

Radiator isn't leaking as it's running at temp now. Also got rid of some surface rust and repainted those spots.

Got my 76 fired up for the first time in a couple months, new (used) headers, new trans pan, dipstick, cooler lines, cooler, and fluid change

Next up will be fabbing up a stainless exhaust for it.

Finally began my new list of projects I listed the last time I posted on here. Starting with the spark plug and wire swap out. Balancing errands, and both kids home from school sick I was able to get the captains side done at least. Snuck out when the sun came up, wife was checking e mails, and kids were still asleep and PB blasted the old ones. Prep work in knowing it would be hours before I could actually start exchanging.

It is definitely time for this. One of the boots on the cap was toast. I found this right after I was thinking about being lazy and not swapping all the wires. I'm glad I didn't. More to come on this.
