I had poor feel while it was drum rear, and same with rear pbr disk swap. I know that couple of autox runs is good enough to smoke the fronts on my car, so they are not great regardless. When it was drum rear, I did not complain about them. But I think they were the same, but my standards started to change instead. My stealth could always outstop the TA while feeling much better with it's basic base model brakes.

One of those things that can't tell unless I get to drive a known good factory setup.

Your Stealth was a much lighter car too.

I used to daily drive 3 different drum cars, in rush hour Columbus traffic everyday. Many many panic stops, never a problem hauling them down. I'm sure autocross would be a different story, but otherwise they were great.

Qtf is rear pbr?

I echo pedal travel. It seems "excessive" for my tastes and some schmuck MAY have put stupid race pads on it but TBH my trips are not near long enough to warm them sufficently to make em work worth a ****. It REALLY DOES have new lines on it so reckon i'll bleed it while i'm down there so I no more has to wonder.

The bell tolls FOR THEE!

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

Did I ever tell the story about my Monte Carlo brakes? They pwn, HARD. Badass 4 wheel brake job I did at a great cost that lasted ....about 10 years .... with Performance Friction pads. It was fine until I lost a ¢ 0.25 brake part that I had reused....some kind of caliper bolt bushing thingy. Lesson learned. No tellin how long they would have gone otherwise but I didn't grease it.
That brake job put a SERIOUS HALT to a LOT of high RPM horsepower and I have, in turn set my own bar very high .
The brakes in this Camaro pale in comparison...
I did a similarly excellent job afterwards to my dad's car -that lasted about the same time. People that ask me to do their brakes? Starting price is $250 for the fronts. It ain't ****** around! It'll take a long time...

I've run out of money this week, so i'm gonna throw it back together, toss on the new lug nuts, and see did I stop any rattles ;). Moar funds free up next week! Still seeking agood price on the pads tryin to beat $44.

Hell yeah. Metallica pumps me up to :grd:

It's 11 pm...guess i'll get started.

Wanna make some coffee? :birgits_tiredcoffee
I got another couple of good stories to tell later on, stay tuned. :headbang:

Mine will stop in a panic, but I have been cought not expecting long pedal and almost taking out the front bumper in a very tight low speed maneuver. I really liked the brakes on the solstice, but it is a smaller vehicle. Heck, I almost think the brake pedal on the rustang feels a bit better.

Lol @ rustang..

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

I got em cleaned / brushed / sanded / lubed and i've decided the pads aren't ceramic after all.

One can SEE the crappy light wear on the ( this is how I know they are brand new ) rotors.

Y u no paint the hub? Gah! ***. Gimmie that IROC so you won't **** it up anymore.

Promise they aren't true out-of-the-box. It'll have to wait until next week though...but plans for the fronts right now, involve turning the brand new rotors, all the hardware looks new too! and i'll likely give the pads a fair chance after packing the bearings and I NEED new grease caps, both front wheels had grease in the hubs. Reckon that's my rattle!
I sanded the caliper bolts with 240.
Burnt the disc brake quiet on em.

So i'll bleed it all a bunch and swap out fluid...that's important, but the K5 killed my last baster or i'd do it now. Ever do that? Clean out your master with a turkey baster? It's goooood! :)

I'm really very tired and it's only 0145.

I arrested bad buy #40! last week and he was feelin kinda froggy -a former Marine and combat vet of two tours- he said..I am still recovering lol. The older I get the longer it takes! :( but i'm not sad, he got a felony for burgulary 2. (My fourth felony conviction btw)
He quit talkin **** after I kindly reminded him that he was wearing MY HANDCUFFS behind his back...It ended up being a pretty big deal.
(Sure feels like it oughta be!)

War pigs anyone? :headbang: All breakin into my **** wearin all that camo..4 in the morning is MY TIME mother ******, you ain't slick!
(Thanks for your service but do NOT pass go, do NOT collect $200.)

Moving forward.

Joo likeit mah new lug nuts? lol?
WAY MORE race car lookin!
(If you wanna run down the drag strip very many times the tech inspector will MAKE YOU run open ended lugnuts.)That's all I buy for that reason. The lug stud must occupy half of the threads or f*ck you, no.

85-86-87 wheels on my 88

I like to think the IROC will get a timeslip one day but i'll tell you right now, it's slow.
Maybe my ground fixed it?
My car pulls HARD up top, stupid hard, but it's a friggin dog low and off the line. IDK WTF these tune port guys are talkin about their **** has no top end...that's all mine has.? Maybe it's stupid fast, I don't know! It's so new i'm still scared of it.

It's been raining and I been playin with the brakes haha. That becomes important all too quickly.
Oh! I has no catalytic convertor btw..that's kinda neat. :)
No wonder my Magnaflow sounds so bad though. I really hate it. No way in hell i'm buying another one.

I tightened up all of the manifold bolts at a great pain to the ass but it's all done now. One bolt is too long though? Leaky sumbitch. I need another bolt. A shorter one. Maybe a quarter inch? Wtf? I will have to go over every.part.of this car. :(
It'll be fun!

Right?

I'm workin up a deal with some dude on eBay for an EGR solenoid, a Flowmaster, and a pair of rectangle Z-28 tips out of ALABAMA. Shapin up to be a sweet bargain, but we'll all find out together!

I drove Helen around a bunch on Tuesday after installing a correct length exhaust manifold bolt AND THEN it was our best drive yet, very rewarding! The proper ground into the driver cylinder head suuuuuurrrrrrre did the trick!

My transmission acts right now. woah!

I'm still chasing this pesky SES light though and have now popped a code #24 on top of my regular #36. :(
I think that was the throttle position sensor...again? Maybe THAT is the root of my troubles!? They're cheap, even the Delco only runs $50 or so, reckon i'll quit ******* around with the one i've got and swap it out too. :( I'd rather quit wondering.

One way or another, im gonna get this light to stay out. You can bank on it!

Next TUESDAY I have plans with my O'Reilly's guy, Jon from Arizona, to get my rotors turned like I want -slow pass first, fast pass last- and we'll finalize the front brake work then so I can be able to give the patrol car back to the office...but i'll likely keep it as long as I can , lol.
(Until they ask for it back :D)

The other good news? I heard Babe the Blue Ox ran the other day? For real? :party33:
;)
I'm going back to see Johnny Craigslist on Monday for an HVAC control head out of an '82.
;)
(same part '74-'87) gotta love it!

Without looking it up, I think code 24 is VSS. Could be way off, it's been a while.

That's the Bird they built on the Street Outlaws show. When they did the challenge with Aaron.

VSS indeed. Apparently I broke my speedometer cable and I reckon that's why it set.
No biggie...
And then?

I don't own a television, never seen that car before in my life, but whattya know?
And then?

L.I.B.

Everything was going fine on teh eBay until dude decided he didn't want my money AND THEN tried to get me to buy outside of eBay, a clear violation of the ToS.

And then?

Buyer protection works!
And then?

And then I bought a better looking pair of tips anyway...for one dollar LESS, and dodged a bullet for sure. I was figuring on painting them others aluminum...and then?

Wtf u haz Camaro too?!
Do you need a brake spring?

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

The tips are clamp-on through 96 @ 2.25"...thinking why can't I run my 3 inch y-pipe off of the convertor connection and 3 inch to the Flow then reckon i'll cut the clamps off to 2.5" tailpipes out of the muff rather then bottle it up and neck it down. That iz plenty sufficient for me, I think. Hope I don't have to source a N10 pipe one day...

These came off a 1994 Z-28 in Florida.

See some unknown jackass has ruined round tips for me. He made comment about how " there is nothing round on the entire car and they don't match ANYTHING!

Aww ****..goddamnit!

He's right, and my opinion has forever been altered.
I can NEVER look at exhaust tips the same again...:( Sorry..welcome to the innerwebz.:flipthebird:

Them LT1 tips look JUST like the taillights though. ?
Yes?
Yes.

That **** is all Matchy Matcherson right thurr!

Cool, I'll look out for it. Should be here shortly I would think.

The Flowmaster 80 series is said to be very restrictive, even more than a factory muffler. I think they sound great though. For a stock or nearly stock car, I've never noticed a power loss by putting one on a car.

The factory N10 y-pipe is cool. Probably not needed, but still cool.

Mine's a 2000 ss tho. It's got chrome slp round tips on it now, but the po has them uneven and sticking out past the bumper. I think it looks gay like that so I'm gonna change it. Thought about getting some like you got and mounting them together in the center.

So I don't need the spring but thanks for the offer. I got 3 buddy's that own muffler shops in town so I'm gonna get it done the way I want it here soon.

Enjoying your thread keep up the good work. :headbang:

Got muh spring in the mail! I guess that means that Camaro brakes just got bumped up the list of things to do. Well, and a fuel pump since it decided to give up.

Totally NOT needed but the same is true for the complete IROC thing...It was born of wanton desire, need never entered my mind. :hmm: I posted that listing -for the pic, I wouldn't BUY that. Especially not at that price.

:patriot:Lol. 'Merica!

Yeah...boss I NEED an IROC Camaro to drive to work. Yeah it's 30 years old and sure it NEEDs my help and I NEED to borrow a patrol car while I fix it up but how else am I suppossed to catch the bad guyz?
Lol?

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
Exotic-y!

That sounds AWESOME to me and I want one. A power loss? Whatever. Restrictive? Gimmie a Break Nell Carter.
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
That is laughable.

I'll give you that a MagnaSlow IS a straight-through design and probably has LESS restriction but it cannot begin to duplicate the scavenging effect of a Flowmaster. I'm only going to swap because it sounds better to me and because glasspacks sound cheap and ghetto. If I have one or two less peak horsepower with a Flow, i'll never know and it will sound WAY cooler, that doesn't make it "restrictive" - that's not the right word. Some kid must have said that. The scavenging effect is way more desireable to me.

Mine's a 2000 ss tho. It's got chrome slp round tips on it

Enjoying your thread keep up the good work. :headbang:

Oh yeah! The SS! I remember now.
I know you didn't ask but my unsolicited opinion is that if that was MY CAR, I would be hella quick to run that SLP single exit muffler and exhaust piping. BECAUSE that is the PIMP **** :imo:
xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I see an SS and always gasp in horror and shock. WHY THE **** would somebody de-value such a rad car like that, LIKE THAT?
Really? With the magnablow and the huge duals? You've seen it. Omfg I would NEVER.
That only serves to cheapen the SS to me, low class. Lowers the value, yes? But that was an SLP option if I am correct, for SS cars, not all SS cars had that or did they? I don't think so, but I don't know. It added horsepower going to the single pipe though.. Must have been an upgrade option. ANYWAYS , maybe it's just me. I think the oval Trans Am quad tips look just like those taillights.
Your car is WAY MORE roundy lookin. Apples to oranges,:confused:round nose. I have always been a fan of the pointy nose cars...but you xan't see out of them.

And thanks. ;)

Thanks again for all you do here. Pretty sure I speak for everyone Cubo, you're a real asset.

Let's not forget that you are to be the guinea pig :anitoof: so let's not dally on the fuel pump eh? It's fiddin to get cold. :angels2:

Let us know if we can help! :baby:

I'm right there with ya, I don't know how they would be crazy restrictive, but supposedly they are. I ran one for over 10 years on my RS and loved every minute of it. My '86 IROC has a discontinued Edelbrock SDT exhaust on it, but it looks just like an 80 series. Just louder somehow.
