snow/winter/mud tires whats your opinion...

on stock trucks.

the second pic is not a power king super traction, or a cooper as the file name states. its a Mastercraft Courser LT, as you can see clearly on the sidewall. they do ok in the snow, i've got a set of them on my derby truck, and they seem to do ok in the mud as well.

personally, if i'm buying a tire with winter use in mind, its a BFG All Terrain or nothing. got a set of them on my plow truck, and you just can't beat them. great on snow and ice, awesome in sand, and actually hold their own in mud.

I have to disagree, I've run the BFG all terrains in the snow and was not impressed with them. They did as well as any other AT tire. Any type MT tread will do better.

I have Power Kings on my dually, they look nothing like the one pictured above. They kinda resemble a Ground Hawg. They seem to do very well in snow/ice.

I have BFG A/Ts on my Tacoma and in my opinion they do better than the TSLs on my K10, which seem to slide easy when braking, and in 2WD seem to fishtail the ass to the right pretty consistently. Taco has push-button rear locker with gray wire mod, K10 has corporate LSD.

the only problems i see with *most* winter snow mud tires
is that the tire is a BIAS and not a RADIAL!

because my grandpa has a 1977 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd with Armstrong H7815LT snow tires on it made of nylon and they will beat and rattle every tooth out of head.

My Power Kings are bias and actually very smooth riding. If the truck sits for more than a day, they do get a little flat spotted, but it is pretty much gone after a 1/2 mile or so. It's actually the best riding vehicle I've had in a while.

that really depends on what kind of snow you're dealing with. if you're dealing with fresh snow that's never been driven through, you are correct. my Cooper STTs on my daily driver are the absolute best mud tires i've driven on. also used Mastercraft Coursers, BFG Muds, Mud Kings, Dunlop Mud Rovers, a set of Mud Brutes, and a few others.

if you're looking at doing alot of driving on areas with snow cover that has been traveled frequently (snow covered roads, parking lots, etc), BFG ATs are your tire. i run them on my 80, and couldn't ask for a better tire. that poor truck is around for 2 purposes... to haul stuff, and to push snow.
