I'd be hesitant to run that. If it were mine I'd rather have not enough engagement than not enough travel.

If you bottom out the driveshaft only place for it to go is to shove it into the tcase or diff.

Is it full time 4wd? If not then I wouldn't really worry about not enough engagement, and just take it easy in 4wd. Until you can get the driveshaft lengthened or the spacer machined down.

Not trying to fear monger or say you're stupid, I just don't want to see you blow out the tcase or diff!

I ran my stock length front shaft on my 4 inch lift for about 7 years 50,000 miles, splines just barely stuck out of the slip tube. Non full time 4wd. Finally had to rebuild the splines and had it lengthened I think 1.5 inches.
It's a 1980 so it's a part time 205 transfer case. I'd venture to guess that the cast iron transfer case is stronger than the driveshaft tube. It more or less only gets engaged in 4WD on the street to lube the front axle. It clanked and rattled and made funny noises before rolling down the street in 2WD with the hubs locked so I would say this is an improvement.

I follow your concerns and am somewhat with you but I will know more tomorrow on the bumpy street leading to the gas station. In 2WD or 4WD the front suspension will move up or down as needed. I drove it home 10 ish miles today but not on a long stretch of bumpy road.

(SW Houston- West Bellfort between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford for those who know the area. Actually, Kirkwood south of Bissonnet to West Belfort ain't all that great, either.)

Personally I think there's crappy roads all over the Houston area .... pretty much everywhere I've been anyway! And yes I'm familiar with this area...used to live/work near there.

Hauled 1000 pounds of topsoil from the local vendor to my house. Man, the truck rides smooth with that weight in the bed. Drove great and the engine did not seem to care.
I know what you mean! I hauled 6 hay bales last month and couldn't believe how much better it rode.

Yesterday I drove the truck to work. About a minute away from arrival, I wanted to crack the window for a second and no movement, but I could hear the motor moving.
Today I popped off the door card and as expected the Schwarzenegger bracket had wiggled loose and the gear was not gripping. I pulled the regulator out and slowly it all started to come back to me, even moving the the regulator to get all 4 bolts lined up on the door. Kind of easy, kind of a PI the A!
While I was in the door I did not get to installing the "new to me" vent window from @legopnuematic yet. I plan to save that job for when I take both door cards off for repaint and will get both "new to me " vents installed. A summer project.
Looking in the door I remembered that the glass had been clinking metal when all the way down. One of the closest parts places had a Doorman window bumper. The last one probably got popped out installing the current motor the lat time I was in the door.

Back when I got the vent from @legopnuematic I ordered a good handful of door screws and fasteners for when I went back in, so I got the door card all tightened up and window working well again, and now it has a soft silent landing on the bumper.

Also, I glued the washer fluid tube back to the wiper blade arm.

Sometimes the little things are all you need.

That’s cool your employer threw a show, more should have showed up as a sign of appreciation
I have never had a job quite like this, they treat everyone extremely well. We were almost a billion dollar a year company, the CEO sat down with my wife and I at our first company function a couple years ago and we had a civil, quality conversation about the business, I was blown away. Mind you, this guy flies in and out using the companies jet to the 15 branches they have.

Finally put some real horns in the truck. Came with just the low tone single horn, very wimpy. A few years ago I bought the "super loud" Chinese crap from ebay and put those in. Of course, they are a total waste of time and money, they just sort of beep beep like a chirping bird. Not the sound I need from my manly truck. We really like our 2021 Traverse with its loud Chevy horns, so I bought a set from a wrecking yard for only $25 and installed them. I am very happy now and can easily scare the pedestrians with the sound.

NO NO NO, not these pieces of junk VVVVVVV

Air horns don't disappoint. Tank in crash position right behind the front bumper. Horns mounted to the solenoid right on the tank in the daily GMT800.

Square also has the tank behind the bumper, horns just a little higher behind the grille. Both are twin trumpets. Maybe you can see them in the square:

A few fixin to do's upcoming

The replacement parts are all in after todays mail. I am replacing the headlight switch, adjusting the ignition switch on the column, and replacing a couple burned out bulbs in the instrument cluster, I figure to replace all of them so as to start with all new ones. Another issue that I have had is the AC/heater control box is working intermittently at best, most of the time it doesn't. The fan control stopped having the 'clicks' on it a long time ago. Priced replacements from LMC, Classic, OER etc. Since the origin country of these is unknown, I searched the auction site for either a NOS OEM unit or a good used one. Most looked pretty grim, cracked, missing pieces, gouged, filthy etc so I held off. Well I finally found an acceptable one at a very good price with all the parts/cable and it arrived today. Now to pick the morning to dig into the dash...

Stopped to fill up and said “Hey, why not try some of that there Tesla juice?” Weirdest darn hose….fits in OK but couldn’t see how to make the stuff come out. Then I couldn’t see how I would pay even if I did get some Tesla juice. Other folks must have the same problem as they were just sitting there in their cars with them Tesla hoses doin nothing. I don’t have the patience for that stuff so went to a regular juice pump.

In spite of the "group expert" absolute insistence on arguing me to death that the only body mounts are 73-80 and 81-87 regardless of anything else, no difference for 4x4 or 3/4 ton...

They are in fact different with my K20 rear cab mounts being about twice as tall as my C10 mounts.

Which makes total sense, since LMC carries two separate PNs for them...

So anyways, wasted hours and hours and 120 bucks because some ****** who's probably never had a cab off a K20 but has to answer every single post was wrong from his couch...

So I moved on to fitting the headers, distributor, steering column, XJ shaft, and ignition switch.
