You can't escape Motorad thermostats.

As Motorad thermostats have a bad reputation I ordered Gates (195° and 180°). After I took them out of the box I instantly recognized the Motorad stamping. I needed some parts from summit and ordered Tuffstuff thermostats,each for 12.99$. The Tuffstuff come in plastic box and when looking at the piece I saw the motorad stamping. Wtf. It seems that there are not many thermostat producers left. I tested the 195° "Tuffstuff" and it opens at 208°. At least I have a lot of spare thermostats.

Lots of consolidation of part number and manufacturers. None of that is good for repair part fit quality or cost.

Imagine owning a business and doing free comebacks for defective parts. Those hours are paid by the next customer, or the business is bankrupt. Other vendors and tax bills don't care. Someone has to pay, it's you.
