Won’t start

Woke up 1:00 am Thursday tropical depression Imelda rolled in. Found water bumper deep on my 73 c-20. Tried to move it to higher ground. Truck cranked but I guess the fan was already in the water. Truck sits in water till Friday. Now it doesn’t even click. Where should I start?

Just a guess:

Make sure the battery is fully charged. If the water was that high, it could have reached the positive battery cable where it connects to the solenoid. That could've created a short to ground which would drain the battery.

The starter might be shorted internally as well.

Bang on starter with hammer... dirty water maketh sticky solenoid.

Maybe pull the plug and make sure no water entered the engine. Not sure how high it got...

I’d put new oil in it. Clean the inside of the distributor with wd40. Pull the wire from coil to dizzy. Pull the plugs. Crank water out. Replace plugs. Test starter, replace if necessary. Try again.
