Does a foggy windshield mean it needs replaced on a vehicle thats been sitting for 5 years or more?

I'm assuming you've tried cleaning it inside and out? Just may needs to be buffed up real good.

Some old windshields I had on some 70's Dodge trucks started to fog like that around the sides and top and bottom. It was the actual 2 sheets of glass separating from the plastic in the middle. The inspection station made you replace it if the fog part creeped far enough into the windshiled wiper's path of view. Not sure if that is what you mean.

Yes what your talking about. Its at the top of the cab and you can see run where rusty water has been dripping on it from the boom. It just happened within the last year or so. Its 69 GMC truck body. Here's 2 year old picture of it.

If it's only been a year and it's caused by rust I'd think there'd be a way to clean it up but maybe there's not. You may stop by a glass place and ask them. Some mobile windshield outfits may come out and take a look at it for you too.

I guess I better clean it up before gets worse and cover up that rusty boom for now.

Defiantely. Might be some kind of chemical erosion or staining going on there. Cover that **** up. Maybe try buffing or polishing that out some time...
