Made an attempt at detailing my interior. Pretty nasty, going to take a few scrubbings. I’m digging the bench seats. Need to order some springs, she’s sagging bad. Going to make a nice work truck.

@DoubleDingo is the 81 a tilt column or not?

My 76 (tilt column) finally broke the pivot on the rack, it had been half broken for a couple years, I’d have to tilt the column down to get it to start, then it finally gave up completely.

If you remove the switch you can use a small Allen key or screwdriver to operate the switch hanging from under the dash. That is how I’ve been starting the 76 as I have not felt like dealing with it yet.
I might need to add a column rebuild to the next series of upgrades on my truck, I can't start it in the highest 2 positions or the lowest one. Hmm

Correct, Krylon Dull Aluminum O’reilly’s
Couldn’t be happier, went on easy, dried fast and looks great!
Read in a HotRod magazine in the 80s or 90s that Krylon dull aluminum was the closest to the original color Chevy used on their steel rally wheels, short of getting paint custom mixed.
I've used it for years with excellent results

Got it from Summit. About $42. Can't really tell much difference noise wise but haven't really driven this truck any either. It looks nice and Id say its worth what was paid for it. Also I think I was probably trying to get my purchase up to the free shipping point.

No, just a hill on C470
On 470?

It's been decades since I have been back to ground zero and didn't realize 470 HAD hills. Last I knew it went from I 25 west to hwy 85, across the Platte river and out to Martin Marietta. I'm not surprised at it becoming a loop freeway for the metro area.

Suppose I should fire up the Google earth and see what 36 years away has wrought. Used to live in Columbine hills and went to Columbine high school. Yeah, that Columbine.... too bad about Bandemere Speedway, got my first taste of speed up there in high school. Boy were we high in school back then, lol.

Two miles south of Bandimere is the hill. Ken Caryl Ave exit. Go north and the hill drops quickly. Then it goes up. My Daughter went to Chatfeild HS. Also, I should note. The altitude here is 5800', so I was able to go that fast with little O2. This truck does fine up to 10,000 feet that I know of.

I found a new in the packaging 'Westerner' seat cover on Marketplace. The seller said it had been stored in their garage for decades I installed it today, perfect fit and it has a pouch in the front for a rifle!

The 84's been in the shop about 2 weeks getting the a motor and transmission swap. He called me last week saying it runs good but when you drive it it falls on its face. He thought it was a carb issue.i told him to take the new quadrajet off the 305 and put it on the 350. He did and calked me today and said it still does it.

He's a big believer in edelbrock carbs. Said he knows I don't like them but he thinks that's the issue. I told him go ahead and get one and try it because I just want it to run good. We'll he called a back about an hour ago and said that fixed it and now it barks the tires. Lol

Guess I'll have to eat some crow but I don't mind if it runs good now. Every edelbrock I've had has been a pos. Mind you I've never bought a new one. I've replaced both of the ones I've had with a new quadrajet and it improved performance dramatically. So it's kinda funny it worked out the opposite this time. Should be able to pick it up tomorrow. So I'm happy because that's all that matters to me. I'd rather have an edelbrock carb that runs good than a quadrajet that doesn't.

It's funny, I just watched an episode of Junkyard Digs on YouTube where they were trying to get an old squarebody plow truck back on the road. Ran like crap and they couldn't find anything wrong with the Edelbrock carb, even put a kit in it. Found an '80s Buick that had a quadrajet on it that looked like absolute junk. They took it off the Buick, threw that one on the truck without doing a thing and it ran flawlessly lol
