Not me out there stacking long skinny funnels together to get JUST the right angle to try and fill my T-Case up.... only to still spill a bunch everywhere. o_O

Oh well.. got it as full as I needed anyways when all was said and done.
Use a pump up garden sprayer cut the the end off,put your atf or 80/90 in that, pump it up and blow it in under pressure. Works great for transmissions and differentials too.

I'm guessing you meant to quote someone different? My post was about getting my bed back on with fuel necks.. So no wires or doors involved. :D

Made a pair of adapters for the housing spreader to work on a GM axle.

Today I was up at the shop for a little while before heading to my bosses place to install that 8 3/4 center I went through some months ago for him. Got the bores cleaned up in the knuckles and pressed in the new ball joints. I also transferred the studs for the dust shields/caliper brackets from the old knuckle into the new Reid knuckle.

Ok... I got the transmission and transfer case pulled today out of the 73 Jimmy. I have never seen the transfer case bracket before...I think it kind cool, just have no clue on where to find the bushings for it...

I heard that that actually is not good for the engine/ trans because of how it changes how the forces are spread on the drivetrain. I dont know how true that is but my 77 didn't have it. Wonder if GM changed it because of this issue.

I don't know, like i said I've never seen it. I have only seen the long bar brackets the attached to the transmission. If anyone has any info about them would be greatly appreciated.

My preference would be the late style bars and brackets their job is to keep the gap at the bottom of the bellousing from spreading and compressing, which breaks the bell housing. If you have too much support front and rear instead of bridging that gap. It does support things well but frame flex can still break things.

I didn't realize the very early 203's got that bracket too. I thought it was just the 205's.

I believe you are correct. It was determined that due to frame flex, that style support mount was actually responsible for breaking t-case adapters and it's use was discontinued by GM because of it.

Personally, I'd only use that style t-case support on a stone stock truck that is just driven occasionally and to shows.

It's been another minute for me posting due to the truck being OOC. I find that ignoring GMSB while frustrated with my truck maintenance is good for me.

So when the ice melted away enough for normal driving I decided I would pick my kid up from swim practice in the truck as it is a short ride and I wanted to see how it would drive post TBI component replacement. Not good.

It drove pretty normal on the way. I parked at the pool and cut it off for 5 minutes. When my daughter came out I cranked it and it died on us when shifting in to drive. It would always crank back up but was never right.

Had to get my wife to come bail us out. She was not happy. I had it towed to the garage that night. The next day I explained everything I had been through and done recently and told them I was not concerned with time as I wanted them to experience it's driving and diagnose.

The owner of the shop called me about 6 days later and had gone over everything and went through everything I had been through, plus a fuel pressure test was good at 13 PSI steady and under load. Timing was checked and set at 0 degrees. No vacuum leaks. He decided eventually it might be ignition related. He pulled the distributor cap which looks great from the outside...but inside was quite telling. He cleaned it up and replaced the cap, rotor, and sanded the distributor shaft to get the rust build up off. I drove it home last night and it seemed fine. Driving it today so...

I think I'm going to use it. Sandblast it and power coat it. It's not like I'm going to be using the Extracab on any trails. It's mainly going to be used on the highway, driving it, and driving to shows. That's why I'm still debating on a Automatic, or Stick. I was kind of bummed it was a 203, I was hoping for a 205. We'll see. Transfer case could be trash.
