GM used different heater hose sizes (typically 5/8" in and 3/4" out) primarily
to optimize coolant flow and heat transfer through the heater core, ensuring maximum warmth by reducing flow restriction on the return side, preventing backpressure, and allowing efficient convection, especially important for effective cabin heating in colder weather. The larger hose helps the coolant exit the core more easily, preventing bottlenecks and maintaining good circulation for consistent heat.

My secret reason for THIS was/is, my step side. Call it a wire labeler, a gauge labeler, a distributor plug wire labeler, a gauge bezel maker. It might even be a truck labeler (emblem).

To keep the secret aloft, I have a few hundred projects that, hope against hope, might both divert attention away from the big, new and strange box in the shop, and solve a few problems, or save work.

For example, my brother wants me to copper plate a buffalo skull, but I don't have a buffalo, so I'll have to make something. For convenience, a comparatively small one.

Or there are the ruler stops, jig knobs, saw throat plates, angle gauge set up plates, and so on.

The simple of it is, I bought a Bambu P2S 3-D printer with the AMS unit, which allows color printing, and various filaments for prototypes and functional items (e.g., my own C-15 / GMC emblems).

Found a piece of 3.5" exhaust from another project. Welded some short pieces over the 3" to extend em below the bumper just a bit....its always had a bit if drone and this seemed to help some

Drilled some holes in an Astro van center cap to cover up where I have my spare bolted down

I’m still waiting. The other machinist still hasn’t shown up since the floods. Nothing to do but wait- it affords me more money saved.

If enough time goes by, the money saved will just increase- and if the block STILL isn’t done, I’ll pitch it and buy a new summit block.

Been a minute since I’d done anything to mine. Life’s been hectic, but found a little time and peace cleaning the dust and cob webs off. Got the new wire ran for the fuel level gauge, new fuel pick up strainer, new o ring and clamp ring on and sending unit back in the tank. Thought I had fuel line to get tank back in but apparently it got used on the tractor when I blew a line.

Still trying to acquire a working 700r4 without paying new rebuilt prices…. Every time I find a good deal on one I either miss out on it or it gets sold out from under me…. I really want to have one before my 40th birthday in February and have this truck moving under its own power.
