Time to install some 1/4 turn valves
I like the idea, but that's just one more thing to go wrong, plug-up, etc. Since replacing the filters is not an occurrence that happens often, I'll take my chances of getting a little fuel-soaked every few years.

Did it look like this one I replaced on the frame rail? I never knew it was there until I saw it whilst inspecting stuff underneath, and I have owned this Sub since 1994. This one was probably installed during assembly in 1985, and yes, I took a gasoline hand/arm/shoulder bath during the process a couple weeks ago...

No, it wasn't original equipment, just something I added in to keep the fuel system clean for the carburetor and fuel pump. I need to bite the bullet and replace the tanks and soft lines. I think debris is plugging things up in the tank, and I also think the filter(s) was(were) just fine, I could blow through the canister filter and it didn't feel like it was restricted. I did wait a day to try so the fuel would be dried up.

Not mine, but "ruined" this one for a buddy. Flip/notch/cal-tracs in the rear an spindles/springs up front.

Weather has been nice here so decided to check my fluids and fire her up. Oil looks good and is full I pull the rad cap and no juice, climb underneath to see if its leaking some were and immediately see this lying on the concrete. It's the one from behind the engine mount on the passenger side.

I put a saddle blanket seat cover on my 84 today. Until I can afford to have the seat done right, this should keep the sun dried cloth that's torn bad on the driver side from getting worse

Pulled a couple easy-to-reach plugs last night.. unknown how long they have been in there and unknown how long they were even run before they sat since the mid 2000s.
So far the two I grabbed (#1 and #7) both look like this. Crusty.

Yikes, she'll definitely run better with some fresh plugs. Since it's been sitting for so long, when you start diving it I'd probably pull the plugs every so often to keep an eye on things until you get comfortable with the engine.

Good call.. Especially with the trying to get carb tuning and whatnot.. I highly expect to be running rich/lean/all over the place for a while. hah. :D

I liked that because it did its job, it popped out instead of the block cracking

NAH! That old fuel and worn out plugs and other components are good to go forever and ever and ever and ever. No issues at all with bad fuel and worn out components, you've been on the innerwebs too long, run it like you stole it
