Ok, so.. my cousin gave me this steering wheel from a 90's 1500,(GMC, pending a Chevy horn cap from a junk yard)

I wasn't too sure if I like it or not, I'm partial to the whole O.E.M look, but I went ahead and mounted it up and took some pics.

Let me know what you all think, I'm gonna post a pic of the original, and the new one.....

Let me know your opinions...please

This is the latest thing i've done to Goldie in a while...

i tell you wat i did this and i like it. feels much better to grip, but i have pretty big mitts tho, i could wrap my fingers around the old one like 5 times. plus its smaller which i thought helped with the sloppy steering. IMO

I prefer the later wheel. Those were also used on the 1989-91 squarebodies so it doesn't look out of place.

I did notice a better feel of the steering wheel versus the original... I does seem to fit better...( I have big mitts too!)

Yeah, I think I'm starting to like it, I just did a test fit, but, I haven't taken it off yet. I'm thinking I might just go ahead and leave it on for good..

I definately have to find me a Chevy horn cap though...

If you insist on running the black wrap the new wheel works nicely. From a feel standpoint I do not doubt its superiority. Like Retro said, it came in the later squares so it looks correct.

I however hate wraps, and if it was my truck I would be running the original wheel. I like the tan wheel, don't think I have ever seen that before. It looks nice and has "class" I guess you can say.

Is this your DD?

Take that truck for a drive with the new wheel. I would be very surprised if you wanted to go back to the old one.

Very nice looking wheel right there!! :waytogo: I often wish I'd go with a wheel like that rather than the one I have and one of these days I may switch to a wheel like that but with a Chevy horn button. Just a good looking and clean design for a steering wheel :High 5:

I switch mine over to mid 90's caveler wheels or eurosport lumina wheels. They are slightly smaller and have alot more cushion in them for driving all day.PLus they also look stock to the untrained eye and fit perfect.

thanks, the tan steering wheel was a last mimute idea... I had some paint left when I had painted my door panels, and thought I would paint it to match, and it came out good.

No, it's not my daily driver anymore... trucks been retired for about 6 months.

Ya, I know, I'm 99.9% sure it'll stay right where it's at :)

I still say if it was a DD go with the new wheel. Non-DD go with the original wheel.

 Yeah, but I've occasionally thought about swapping steering wheels for one similar to yours. Just never have done it  I do like the simple, black 4 spoke design.
