If they are silicone wires don't worry about it. They should have been all 90s for headers, I have a set of 10mm Accel Superwires and they're pure silicone and have all 90s.

Yikes, the boots are smoldering?Never heard of plug wire boots havin to take a heat set.If they aint hitting the headder pipe and burning you should be ok.Maybe try some of that asbestos tubing to go over the boots like from DEI.Its flexible enough to cover the ends of the boots.Check out Summit for that stuff..

agreed wrap them or buy 2 other 90 boots and switch them. I got some accel's on my 88 that are the same way, all are 90's but 2. if nothing else put those two like one the first 2 plugs, one on each side, that way they have the most clearance.

What brand of headers do you have and are they the right application for your truck? Good headers are shaped to avoid plug wire damage the best they can, but its a fact, plug wires don't like headers. On my old 64, I ended up having to run solid core wires instead of carbon core wires cuz the carbon got to hot to quick, hardened, then the carbon breaks and affects the wire. Wire technology is much better now though. Agreed, should be all 90 boots.

jeez them's some expensive plug wires, I'd buy the boot protecters first before new wires that cost a fortune.

I got a set of mallorys and one boot is laying on a header tube and it doesn't melt.

oh you answered your own question......

duralast wires, JUNk nothing but junk. I had one burn down to the core on no. 1 cylinder on a 76 c10 with dynomax headers and it wasn't touching. They are crap wires, IMO look into some new ones from summit or accel or something, or if those have a lifetime warranty try to take them back. We did but they said they werwen't covered because it burnt off, when I know they didn't touch.

They are not bad wirse, they are just aren't in upper section of quality and I wouldn't use them with headers at all. I have used them on the box van in a pinch while in Abilene when the Cat went bad and I tuned it all up hoping that would fix it and didn't have a choice, but they seem to be doing OK on the OEM 460 motor and I know alot of heat is created in that small engine space. But, I left the heat deflectors in tact and no headers.
