Yup. As mentioned, the 71-up full size GM cars(and 2wd pickups) had the 5x5 bolt circle lug pattern, due to the adoption of disc brakes across the platform. IIRC the pattern even extends to the 91-96 Impala SS and Roadmaster; Impala SS wheels are a popular model for the OBS trucks.

I can confirm the 5-by-5" configuration for my current truck wheels. Thanks, all.

Disc brakes came before '71. But anyway, the '77-up full sized cars remained the 5x5 bolt pattern, for the most part. The cars with HD brakes got the 5x5 pattern, LD brakes got the 4.75x5 pattern. Station wagons came standard with the HD brake option. The SS was based on the police car, which of course had HD brakes as standard.

I saw this Caprice yesterday and forgot to post it in the "don't see that on the road" thread, but it applies here because it seems to have the 4.75x5 bolt pattern.

Also, that quarter panel is impressively focked.

Yes this is something we would have to ask when people were buying parts. I remembered that and was just about to make a post....you saved me the trouble!

Following up about wheel width matter, I asked the manager of the tire shop check the wheel width on my truck. He said they're 7.5 inches, "but we call it 8." Is he correct about this?

No, he would be incorrect. If he stuck a rim width gauge on it and it came out to 7.5", that would make it a 7" wide rim since the actual proper measurement is between the inside of beads.

Yes, Bucket is correct, inside of the rim lip where the bead rides are were to measure. Overall width from outside edges will be anywhere from 1/2-1 inch wider depending on wheel material and design.

Was there ever a factory 15x9 or 15x10 in any rally; car, truck, 5/6 lug?
