Ok so this is what happened I'm driving home between classes and I'm comeing to a red light so I downshift to 3rd as usual then nuetral light turns green put in 2nd and...... I hear a pop and I'm not moving clutch pedal has almost no pressure and I can put it in any gear with my foot off the pedal like engine is off... its not.. so I trade some smokes for help pushing accross street and here's what I find. Blellhousing is away from engine WTF!!!!!!!!! Ok I grab a bolt and snug it back up I think ok maby that fixed it... nope ok push clutch fork back(twords the front of truck)...nothing fork moves freely with no resistance in any direction I have term project due thursday so I really need this done tomorrow. Can y'all please point me in the right direction? Much thanks in advance

With the beelhousing backed off sounds like the hydrolic slave cylinder blew out. If that is the case it over traveled and you need to look under the truck to see if it is leaking fluid from it(brake fluid). Also might want to make sure it is still splined into the clutch disk. From what you described though with the POP sound is that the slave cylinder blew out. Pretty simple fix not to expensive and youll need to bleed the systme out of ai just like you would when bleeding a brake system. One last thing make sure you really tighted those bell housing bolts.

Ok will definatrly check that to sounds like a definate possibility, still though it goes nowhere when in gear, I even reved engine pretty high and just sat there in gear. No clutch slave would prevent me from going into gear right

I wouldnt think so but if it messed the clutch disk up when it backed out that might be the problem. My S-10 did that last year. The disk came apart and it would go into any gear at any rpm and wouldnt move at all.

Slave cylinder would NOT have anything todo with your transmission engaging, neither would the clutch fork with the exception of it NOT letting you put it in any gear with it running.

If you are able to put it in any gear with the truck running, then either your clutch disc has stripped its splines, your pressure plate has broken the springs allowing your clutch disc slip on the flywheel, OR your input shaft in the transmission has broken.

If your clutch fork was knocked off of the ball stud then either your fork is worn out or the springs coming loose from your pressure plate knocked it off the ball stud. Which would explain the "pop" sound you said you heard. course the bellhousing backing away from the engine block would also cause the fork to come off of the ball stud.

I will be interested to see what you find when you get it apart, take some pictures for us.

I am going to bet 10 bucks the center of the clutch disk is broken out.

In my S-10 the springs in the clutch disk broke and it ripped the metal around the springs and it did the same thing. I wouldnt see the input shaft breaking unless you got some serious horsepower and are really beating on it.

More then likely your gonna win the bet, so I will let someone else be the one to shake your hand lol

I wouldnt either the input shafts are tough, but it is a possability, after all it is more then likely almost 30 years old.

I would guess broken input shaft, since the bellhousing bolts were so loose. But hopefully it just junked the clutch disk.

I think he should be okay, if the bellhousing bolts came out far enough to allow the input shaft to be cockeyed even the least bit it would just break the inside of the clutch disk right?

If its anything besides the clutch that you need I have 2 sm-465's in my garage I could pull parts out of.
