I have a pioneer stereo in my truck that the PO put in. Every time we shut the truck of and back on the stereo completely resets. The memory will not hold. Any idea what is wrong?

He hooked the constant power wire up to an ignition on source, so it looses power every time you shut the key off. You just need to hook the yellow wire on the pioneer harness up to a constant power source.

Does the interior light come on? My PO hooked up the memory to the light lead, and mine never saved memory cause the fuse was blown(no interior light).

I can check when I get home, but I'm 99% sure yellow is constant and red is ignition on a Pioneer harness...

Just run a temporary hot wire from your battery to see if it makes a difference.

I usually just run a jumper wire from the fuse of an always on circuit. It doesn't pull much juice because it's just there to hold the memory.

If you just want it to work you can ghetto rig a 12 gauge wire from battery positive to the radios yellow constant just make sure you fuse it so u don't burn up wires

Grab a multi-meter and look for a hot wire (12v) with the key off, that one should go to yellow (pin 10) for the after market harness, then with the key in acc you should be able to find a second hot wire and that would go to the red wire in the after market harness (pin 9).
If it is already wired that way then it may be time to get a new head unit.

Thats what I put in my truck, I used the top right spot in the fuse box for the constant power. Works just fine for me. Red wire for ignition switch and yellow wire for constant power. Was the first time I put in a deck in any vehicle ane I got it to work right so anybody should be able to do it!!!!
