Just as an idea, with our trucks being classics. Some are perfect, and others are not. For the "Nots", how about some examples of our trucks "Patina". Not necessarily rat rod made up patina (clear coat, oil jobs, etc.) but signs of life. I offer a few examples of my truck, Ralph. My favorite is my front bumper. How could I possibly replace it with new chrome?

Here we are a few years later after some use in our care.
My truck was built in Toronto and lived in Canada for a while before coming to the USA to be with us.

Visiting Dad at his assisted living apartment. After a heavy rain the shortcut to the facility is pretty much a Level B road.

Not much to look at but it still gets worked. Not what anyone would consider a pavement princess. Full restoration of the interior is planned for this spring; Upgrading the floormats to new feedsacks and the doormat will be replaced by a worn out Indian blanket I found in the milkhouse.

Here’s a few from my fleet. The ‘76 was supposedly gone through 25ish years ago but before it was finished, the owner got sick and it got put in the barn where it sat for those 25 years. Then I bought it. I’ve gone through it mechanically but done nothing about the patina. And don’t plan to. Maybe rockers and cab corners but not sure how I’ll blend them in. Don’t really want to do a complete paint on it.

The 82 has one repaint probably 25 years ago and is showing its age. I only waxed it in these pictures, no sanding, or oiling of the finish to mimic patina.

And the 87 suburban is all original and loosing its paint daily lol.

This is my favorite pic of the 76 as far as patina, dirt, working truck pictures go.

This is a truck I purchased with the help of a board member and I just can't see painting it, maybe some airbrushing to make it more even or more consistent. I need to carefully remove the dents from behind the panel and get the original door mounding back on .
It tells a story.....
The one of how bad GM grey paint was in '87, LOL . Every car or truck from that vintage in grey was repainted.
I finally obtained title and was considering a personalized plate and found available, "PAHTINA", "PATINA2", or "NEDSPNT" .

I bought this truck with spots of primer all over it but had the original paint under it. I wet sanded it off and let it sit outside for another 2 years, it finally blended back in. The way it was parked for years I gather was the passenger side was towards the sun more due to how much more it's faded.

Hah I rattlecanned it pretty close to a year after I got it to at least get some paint on there, bare metal does not survive long up here in the land of road salt. I can't wait to actually repaint it proper

In my humble opinion, with old trucks especially, its more important they run than look new. Mine runs and drives perfectly. Well, for an old truck..

This 88 Suburban (big Red) was my truck back in the early 2000's I bought it in perfect garage kept condition from its original owner. I dragged that (painted) Airstream across America behind it. It had no patina when I bought it. But, after hailstorms in Ohio, and the third owner who had its windows busted out in Colorado, it finally was easily taken out by not fixing anything..It had acquired its patina. We replaced it with a big block 96 Vortec suburban. The White Whale we called it. When we realized that all the money for camping was going into the Chevy, and not the airstream, we unloaded both. Perhaps a mistake. When we got Ralph it all seemed familiar.

My recently purchased 86, for a rust free as it is in places I have to decide on my driver's side fender.

The inside fender structure is almost completely gone. I have a new fender on the way, im trying to decide if I should paint that and try to patina to match or trying cutting out the inside and bonding the new to my original fender..
