Had forgotten what modern factory paint color closely matched the interior "fawn" of the old trucks, so I re-looked it up and it is Nissan 2003 Sunlit Sand. Duplicolor sells it, so I found a site that has it for cheaper than I can get it through summit or even locally. Since this truck will never be a show truck, I don't mind making it look good but still have full function. And, as I mentioned before, this truck will now get a ton of upgrades, or just things i had planned to install but never did. One of those items will be the factory AC dash from Mean Green. I need to get a spot weld cutter so I can remove the dash from the cowl piece I saved form that cab.

For those that don't know what those dashes look like, here you go...

Except for the color being "fawn" when this truck is done, the interior will look very similar to this, including the shifter and steering wheel, except there will be two shifters. Twin-stick for the overdrive and sm420. I will most likely get the tachometer that mounts in the instrument cluster for a much cleaner look, and no tach on the column. I need to replace the windshield anyhow even though it didn't crack in the accident. But the gasket is shot and has been shot before I even got the truck. Replacing the dash will allow me to repair any rust damage, and install any goodies that will go under the dash, like the two-speed wiper motor, the AC box, new cables, venting pieces, etc.

I also discovered today that Mar-K is running a special on their kits, so I will be ordering the bed wood and doing the bed sooner than later. I stopped by the frame shop during lunch to pick their brain on how to bring the truck over. And the owner said it doesn't matter unless the frame is crinkled up where the engine mounts. Since I will be doing a complete drivetrain swap, I am opting to take it all out before taking it to the shop. They said it would be maybe two weeks to get the truck done and ready for me to pick back up. So in a week or two I can take it in to the shop.

Crazy how shipping works nowadays. On the 25th I ordered a spot weld cutter kit, and fender hammer & dollie set from Eastwood. The cutter was shipped the next day and is lost somewhere. The hammer & dollie set shipped on Monday and arrived the same day. I also ordered some spray paint from JB Tools for the inside of the cab and it appeared to be lost, too, but arrived today.

I think it is safe to say that it is a perfect match to the original Fawn color that GM used in the cabs of these old trucks.

I sprayed this area just above the odd-shaped hole, and you can't even tell where the new paint is.

I hadn't reported anything new because of enjoying the truck instead of working on it. Now it's time to modify the heck out of it. I think we were more angry than hurt, especially when A-HOLE-E-O and his buddy kept spouting off. I know they were looking for a reaction that would ultimately go in their favor because they were in the wrong. I kept my cool, though.

I haven't had any desire to turn wrenches for a while, only preventative maintenance on the daily(s). @Mr Clean Reached out recently and urged me to get my butt back on the forum. I won't be on much, enjoying some down time and playing golf. Crusty is still down, the engine is still with the machinist. I had a good talk with him in late June. Once I get the engine back, I can assemble it. I have everything but the pistons and rings, and I gave him the go-ahead to order those after he checks/hones the bores. I am half tempted to just get the truck back together with the v8 just so it is back on the road. I am getting the itch to get back on the truck.

Hope all is well with all y'all.

Have a Great Day and God Bless!!!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I guess I need to get on the tear down and rebuild so I can provide some updates!

Yesterday I finally got the engine block, flywheel, and head back from the machine shop. I will post up pics when I uncover it. I was hoping it would clean up at 0.20 over, but he bored it to 0.30 over. There was no ridge on the cylinder bores, which is why I thought it may clean up at 0.20. The head now has 1.94/1.60 valves, z28 springs, lumped ports, and screw-in studs. Sylvolite pistons with coated skirts, Hastings rings, and the rods I got from 12Bolt with ARP bolts installed, the rods were balanced to with a gram of each other, or something like that. Same with the crank, got that from 12Bolt as well, and it was balanced to within a gram.

Unfortunately the rain we got during the wintertime kept me from working on the truck, so now I have a lot more on my plate.
